Instead of asking why someone buys a new bow, why don't you ask where the latent jealousy comes from?

Is its so bad that you feel the need to question other peoples motivations over something as trivial as buying new bow?

Money won't help when shtf but a couple bows and a stockpile of archery/hunting gear/arrows sure as hell is worth more than big bank account.......oh if you got the money why not buy what you want when you want, me I buy what I can when I can I got babies and a wife..

It seems people on here get offended pretty quick, a simple question turns into some bashing/hating and alot of negativity on here.I figure alot of people would be more grown up on these forums being its bowhunting.com you know bow hunt or die....a little let down but hey thats what you get when you get online now a days.:bhod:

It's a forum filled with mostly males, what do you expect? It will get testy every now and then but it's good for the most part. It would be boring if everyone agreed all the time.

I got a 2 year old model last year. This year I got a new bow. There is no specific answer to this question, nor is it anyone's right to criticize some for buying or not buying a new bow. Some people just like bows in general. Who's to say anyone is right or wrong for their decisions on wether to buy a new bow or not. I say, if you are in the position to buy a new bow and want one, go for it! But if you don't thats fine too! The only way a new bow becomes a necessity is when your old one stops killing!

You can't take your $$ with you so why not use it and enjoy it.

I hunt with a 1968 Bear Super Kodiak but it looks pretty new...lol. I do have about 17 different bows and shoot them all. One happens to be a gen 1 Mathews Monster 6. I can't see upgrading it in the near decade.

Mine is a few years old now and I would like to pick up a new one, but my priority this year is building a Garage/Shop/Man Cave/Guest House. My home is so full of crap I cant put nothing down anymore and expect to go back and find it.

What is this "off season" you speak of? As for getting a new bow I upgrade when the opportunity presents itself. I'm in the grind of hunting down a new bow. Looking to upgrade to a creed xs.

I don't buy a new bow unless I see something I really want. I have 2 Mathews bows now. I have always wanted an All Black Bow. I think they look so cool! I shot the new Mathews No Cam HTR and that is the one I am getting in all black. Now I have a speed bow (Z7 Magnum), a short axle to axle bow (2013 Totally Lost Creed) and now a Tactical All Black Bow (Black No Cam HTR). That is it for me for a few years.

I still have my 05 Hoyt V-Tec! No plans on a new one at least for a few more years!

I use to buy a new bow almost every year before I got married and had kids. :p Now I buy one every few years or so. Most the cash I would have spent on a new bow annually goes to other equipment.

I get a new bow every two seasons lately.. My bow shop treats me so well on trading in my bow I can't pass us the deal.. For instance this year I went to get new strings on my Chill, and walked out of there with a Stone Tactical HTR (kept my accessories from the Chill) for $250.. How can I say no to that!?

Trying to avoid all the off-topic drama:

One reason I like to change bows sooner rather than later on a bow I don't love is resale. After selling my Experience last year I only had to add $165 to get my current bow. Sometimes a bow seems great at first but as you shoot it awhile you realize it's not the bow for you. Might as well sell it while it is worth something than keep it years for trying to like it.

Exactly!!!! I feel the same way.

I've hunted since i was 14, and I'm 38 now, the first 20 years I only owned 2 bows. 4 years ago, somthing changed and I became obsessed with bowhunting. since then I've bought/been through 2 bows, a PSE Brute-x, and now the PSE DNA. I only upgraded because I shot the DNA, and fell in love with the speed. I most likely will not be upgrading anytime soon, even though I'd love to get my hands on the pse full throttle!!

Been huntin around 6 years hunted first 2 years with a crossbow and wanted to upgrade. So i got a diamond razor edge and didnt like it very much so got a hoyt charger. Wanted a good brand didnt have to be newest best thing. Just something i knew would last me a good 5 years and something i would be more confident with. Have had it for 2 years and have been 3 for 3 with deer so has really helped. Probaly will use it a good 2 or 3 more years then maybe ill think about upgrading.
