Thank you guys. We're definitely pumped about it. Very much looking forward to some steaks in the near future and some sticks and sausage. If she's anything like my first it'll be a great treat. I'm addicted to deer hunting but gotta say bear may be turning into addiction

Thank ya. Coulda been just a bit over and got into that second lung better, but can't complain. Did some awesome damage and aside from a little stretch she left a great blood trail. Lots of anxious shaking and tensing but as soon as I drew steadied up fast and nice and smooth. Still have adrenaline just thinking of it

Congratulations Torro!!! I can't wait until my turn comes up which might be next year for a bear hunt here in Wisconsin.
Be sure to posts some pics once she's in the cabin down the road.

Thank Ya and definitely will. Just dropped her off to get started. Should be spring time which hopefully will be when I'll be ready to stain and clear coat the logs. I'll post a few pics of how the cabins coming when I remember to and kinda how it'll lay out.
Good luck on getting your chance. It's an amazing time. I will do all I can to do it every chance I get. Every bit is a blast.

Here's a few pics of the log cabin in progress and idea for the bear mount.

    This form for the mount.

Few outside pics. Inside in loft. Wood stove. The mount will go on the back wall, not sure sides or above the window, wife will be final say. Still gotta finish chinking inside, touchups and trim, finishing stuff up. Outside some groundwork and insulation before winter. Stain and clear coat next summer, and flooring and outside paneling under roof. Railings and real steps for deck. Always will be something but for time in and only help i had was putting patio door on I'm very happy with how she's coming.

Tore down bear setup today. Kind of great feeling, kinda feels like wish there was more. Decided to throw that hang on up over where I had my best pics off the edge of field for opener. There's enough going on around there that the deer shouldn't be too worried about the human scent setting up, they'll be fine again by opener if even bothered since they were out after I checked cams each time. Liking the view for sure.

Now hopefully get some projects wrapped up, enjoy some extra family time, and be ready for opener.

Thanks guys. It's starting to come together better than I expected.

CT very much so. Relocated two cams and stand today and getting very anxious. Still on a high from the bear but kinda raises the suspense having that as a start to the fall. Checked two cams with a buddy today too. He's got one wide 8 and a huge 12 he's been watching. Flipping through those pics was awesome. It's going to be a very interesting start soon

Everyone still getting pics/sightings or patterns changing at all? I think last year things changed up for me close to season and some regulars disappeared for good and few new guys started.

I've got two hard and neighbor had one that was way early three weeks ago. Curious to see what most are like for opener. Last year most were right on or around opener, then had a spike still in velvet a month later. I haven't noticed any new nice bucks coming or going, but last year it was last minute all changed and later again. Think I found some places to scout out for next year too. Wanted to for this year but too much was going on. Hoping to maybe even throw one cam out in a few weeks in one spot and let it sit til post season and check it out. Hoping

Haven't checked the cams in a few weeks. I'm hoping to either tomorrow in the rain or next week some time. I need to shuffle them around a bit.

Got my steaks and straps back today and figured out order for trim. Gotta say I still like bear meat over any other I've had. Back straps with garlic salt on the bbq are amazing. I may have to plan some trips or something to make bear a regular part of our diet

They came out great. And the next night tried chops marinaded overnight in Italian dressing, also came extremely tasty. I haven't had any bad experiences with bear meat that I've heard from others yet and sure hope I don't. I truly could eat it every day, granted with how fatty it is and my usual eating to excess it probably wouldn't turn out good for my figure...
Less than two weeks and it'll be time to collect some great lean protein. Without any left in the freezer it can't come soon enough.
