I use it every time! Works like a charm, you just have to be careful after you put it in, down twist it too much or it rips the intestines.
I use a BOT. If you're buying one of the current models you're good. The original didn't have the stopper on it to prevent from inserting too deep. Just insert, twist, and tie off with a piece of string. You're good to go.
I tried it once and I will have to say it was one of the most uncomfortable experiences ever not to mention it made is extremely hard to be able to bend over to field dress the deer. I couldnt sit for a good week afterwords.
I will have to ask my processor... I always give him my deer with the holes God gave it plus the one that I just put in it... Shoot it and drop it off for processing.................. Back when I was field dressing my own deer, that tool would have come in handy, I can tell ya that !!!!!!!!! Have seen folks use it and it DOES make quick work of it.........
LOL.....well gee thanks , finally an item someone aknowleges i use .......lol The newer ones work the best , the older ones use to just rip things up , i use it some times but i still do it the old fashion way , just cut the ass out and pull it through .
when I think of a**holes I think of you and beer...not too many people bring celibratory beer on there bow hunts. I suppose you have to start feeling a little frisky before playing with that thing
It definitely is an awkward moment the first time you're standing over the deer thinking about what you are about to do. You just killed the poor animal and now you are going to remove any remaining dignity it had. Sure beats cutting out the grommet with a knife, though.
I had one and I think it must of been the older model. I didnt care for it all that much, we just bring an axe in on the 4 wheeler and just split the pelvic bone anymore.
