I'd heard rumors this winter, got a good line on info last weekend, and confirmed today. Buster is dead.

I have photos of him back to 2011 and videos of him in 2010. He hung out all summer with Blade, who I chased for 4 years and my brother shot back in 2013. He was a mostly nocturnal buck that my brother had at dark under his stand a few years back.

Buster was killed opening weekend of rifle season to the Southwest. Big congrats to the hunter for sure!

Here's one of the videos I have from 2010. I think Buster is the 1st buck and Blade is definitely the 2nd.

Aside from not getting him yourself, at least he wasn't lost to another animal or to the elements. He was able to make a hunter's day and will always be remembered as someone's trophy!

That's a bummer after all the time you put in trying to chase him down. Glad to see that someone got him though and not old age or something else.

Did it have the notch in the ear? That dead buck just looks so much smaller that I'm not convinced it's the same deer.

About a mile and a half. I'm trying to get more detailed info on the kill. My brother remembers hearing the shot.

It's him. 100%. I have other pics, but don't have the hunter's permission to post them yet. Has his curved brows, outward turned right G2, small sticker on his left G2

I'd recognize that bastard of a deer anywhere :tu:

I knew the instant I saw the thumbnail of the first image I got with him in the back of a pickup.

Sort of lets the wind out after that long of a chase.

You gonna meet up with the guy and offer some of the history of pictures? I've learned over the years that is such a great way to form a hunting friendship.

Great idea. Could help to assure you're both on the same page as to what deer are on the "hit list", to a certain extent.

I'm trying to. We'll see if he's interested. I'll bring a thumbdrive for him and his shed from last year. Depending on how into hunting and the buck he is, I might give him the shed too. Though, I may give it to my brother, since it was the buck he's been hunting for ever.
