Do you still hunt an area that you've been busted in? Should I wait a few weeks to go back? My first hunt of the year was last weekend, I got busted by two different deer. They both blew several times and ran off flags up. My excuse was the leaves were wet and I couldn't hear them coming in. Pretty sure they caught movement because I had just got up in my stand and I was still getting situated. I really like the spot but not sure if I should move on from it.
Give it a week or so, then be sure to spray down and use extreme scent control. If possible when you get into your stand get set up quickly, or if you are arriving at you stand late, due to work etc... and the deer are already there, then you may need to move your stand slightly further away to allow more time before the deer arrive at the stand.
It all depends on what the deer got of you. If it was just movement, you don't even have to give it a day. I had a buck look me in the eye on the ground at 15yds run off flags up and I blew a fawn bleat to see if I could make it seem like what he saw was another deer. Sure enough I sat down and 5 mins. later he came back and gave me a broadside shot. But if they smelled you, give it a few days and you'll be fine
This is just my opinion based on my limited experience, but yes, I will still hunt when I get busted. Also, what I do depends on how I got busted. If I just got winded I'd hunt the same stand location since the deer didn't see me. If I actually get "picked off" I will still hunt the same spot but I'll change to a different tree every time. I learned this lesson early on by seeing what had to be the same deer that had seen me come by and actually look right back up at that spot in the tree where it had seen me. I also hunted one of my brother's spots in Arkansas one time. I didn't like his stand location so I moved his climber to a tree 40 yards from where it was. I watched a big doe come in from behind where he would have been sitting and look straight up that tree four times before she walked past. Obviously she had busted him before.
