What gives ?? I have had two of them... the no glow which I sent back and a now a Trophy Cam. Both camera works great except both take very poor night pictures due to poor lighting from the IR. I just don't get decent light out of the IR on either of them and why I sent the no glow back. Most pictures I needed to lighten them up on the computer to see them decent which then distorts the picture. Kind of maddening to tell the truth. I see other guys on here that don't seem to have that problem with their bushnells although most are running videos. For the guys that take picturess... is there a setting I am missing where I can brighten up the night time pictures and get more out of the IR. Thanks !! Tim
may you should try one of these with your cams.. http://www.spypoint.com/EN/trail-cameras/IR-Booster/IRB-W-B.html
I agree, the IR pics from mine are pretty poor as well. I recently bought a Uway flash extender and it's out right now with the Bushnell so we'll see how it does. Blessings.......Pastorjim
More batteries, more money, more stuff to hang, more stuff to get ripped off and probably something else that doesn't work like advertised. Thanks for the info but no thanks. The cameras themselves are a headache enough. LOL Tim
What did the Uway Flash run you price wise ?? I did check out the spypoint that Ultramax suggested and they seem to run around $80. It is more then I would want to spend when I could put that $80 to another brand of trail camera with a better IR. It is too bad as the bushnell works flawless otherwise. Thanks !! Tim
Please post some pictures when you check you card next so we can see how big of a difference it made and if you are happy with it. Tim
It's time to try Scoutguard made by the company which produced the 2009 Bushnell Trophycam. With the Long Range cameras, you don't even need an Extender: http://www.camera4life.com http://www.everest1stop.com Or you may search "Long Range Scoutguard" on Ebay/Amazon. Not only the illumination distance (& hence the brightness) is larger, the detection range is also longer. You don't even need a safe box because you can mount it so high that people never look at things above their heads when walking. Even if they see it, what can they do about it? Are they going back home to carry a ladder to get your camera? During cold winter and hot summer, Long Range cameras still work for you while others are sleeping, wasting your battery.
My brother had a couple of these in Canada last year. I checked them one day and was amazed at how poor the night pics were. That was a lot of help, wasn't it?
Here is a link to the extender I mentioned. I hope to post some pics from it very soon as the last time I brought the card home, I found that all the daytime pics from the Bushnell were totally whited out. So I have to go get it this week so I can send it in. I gotta say, after the success of the 2009 Bushnell I bought the 2010 model and it has had some problems. The first one I had I had to return because it had the run-away issue. This unit has not had that problem but the IR pics from it have always been terrible. I really bought the extender to go with my Leaf River IR7SS because it's night videos have also been very poor. Here is a link to the extender. http://www.trailcampro.com/uwayxtendir-iflashextender.aspx Blessings.......Pastorjim
I have the trophy cam and i get great night time pics but i don't have the IR version. Im looking to see if maybe the new trophy HD cam will be good.
I would rather use a flash cam but many of my spots that are great places to set up trail cams are right by roads. The only trees here are shelterbelts and old farmsteads. We have way too many roads !! The deer really like roaming them at night so it is a perfect place to put out a cam so you can get in and out without disturbing the area. A flash wouldn't work here with all the riff raff and snoops so I need a decent IR for these spots. I do plan on picking up a couple dlc reveals in the near future for some of my other spots were I am not too worried about some low lifes finding them. They look to be very good cameras for the price. Tim
Tim, What model of Bushnell are you using? I have the 466C Bushnell. It's a "blackflash" but technically It's not. It's more of a low glow compared to regular IR cams. The night pics on this one aren't to bad. It's a 2010 model I believe. I like It so far.
I was running 3 that were running flawless. Amazing pics. 1 was stolen, now running 2- still flawless. I plan in buying 2-3 more.
LOL, my moultries have been great. Ive bought stealth cam, wildview, wild game innovation, and spy point and they've all failed.
Running a Trophy Cam now. The first one was the 466C. It's flash was actually a little better then the one I have now but the pictures were horribly grainy. If the one I have now had a better flash... it would be a great camera. It never misses a thing and works great otherwise. It is small and easy on batteries. Very, very few blurred pictures when the deer are moving. I might take Ultramax's and Jim's advice and get an extender for it. Waiting to see how it worked out for Jim. Tim
