I gotta say I'm getting a little disappointed In these camera's. 2 years ago I had a Bushnell on my bait when I shot my bear and the camera never caught It. That same year another guy In our group had a bear come In that he shot and the same brand of camera missed that one. This year bear hunting It happened to me again but this time with my 2011 Bushnell. The other Bushnells were my dads 2010 Trophy Cam's. Anyhow getting pics at a bear bait Is about the easiest thing for a camera to take pics. At least 6 to 7 times through out the week we would see where the bushnells didn't get a pic of the bear. I then turned the sensitivity up the whole way which helped some but still we were missing some pics yet. My 3 Reconyx cams never missed a beat again. I hate spending all of that money on a cam but damn I know FOR SURE I'm not missing out on anything so I might be spending big money again on another Reconyx or 2. Just thought I'd give a heads up that 4 different 2011 Bushnell HD 466C trail cams myself and another guy own missed out on some easy pictures bear baiting. I guarantee their missing a ton more In the whitetail woods. They have OUTSTANDING video's but there not as good of a camera as I 1st thought they were.
I have a bushnell trophy cam, bone collector edition... is the worst of the five cameras we have. Every week i get "white" photos with nothing in them. I have messed with every setting on the camera, seems like the camera cant deceide to use color or black and white so the photo gets messed up.
Ive owned about a dozen of them and LOVE them.... never had issues with missed pics. Mine are a 3-4 years old now but run great. Ive had to send 2-3 back to get the lcd screen replaced but they just mail me a new one everytime, very quick at that. Theres always a bad batch out there tho... Sucks they missed the kill shots
My new one took over 10K pics in less than 5 days....I left it in the woods for 4 months thinking I would get some great patterns etc. I was very disappointed. Not sure why it triggered so much so often. On a positive note, my first camera got wacked out while under the warranty period. Received a new one. Was great customer support.
Steve, I had the 2010 model and it definately had issues. It finally died the first part of this year and I posted something about it on here and someone from Bushnell contacted me, through this board, and offered to replace it with a new one. This new camera has not had any issues at all. So I gotta say from my point of view they had great customer service. I really hope you get things worked out. Camera problems can be so frustrating. Blessings........Pastorjim
Great trail cameras for the money zero problems with them. They definitely don't have the trigger speed of a reconyx, one negitive with reconyx is you only get 3.1 mp (and the extra $$$$). Heard 2012 bushnell models have much better trigger speed but haven't tried them out yet.
I have an earlier trophy cam, 3 2012 Trophy Cams, and the new X8...no problems with any of these. I did have an early 2011 edition of the Trophy Cam Black and sent back and got 2 new ones before just getting a straight refund. In 2010 they had issues with the cameras taking picture after picture no matter the setting. This is a known issue and were replacing these cameras. The white out issue, yes I have had this multiple times when switching from daylight to dark or opposite, it's a small issue but it can get annoying. Their customer service has always been top notch when I have dealt with them. Good luck.
I have a couple of the 436 here and they work well but with both cams on the same settings and new 8 gb sandisk cards one cam will take more pics put on the same pole in my yard same height just doing walk-byes with all the same settings I feel the same would happen with most of my cams,my primos x blackout will take of every car in and out my driveway, but if you walk by it will miss it.. kills me,not worth putting in the woods. But i would love to try one of the reconyx brand once
I have a trophy cam that I purchased in 2010. It started out taking tons of pictures of nothing. I turned the sensitivity level to low and it fixed that problem. I occasionally get a white photo or 2 but i get white photos on alot of my cams. I think it's using the IR mode and it's too light out. (dust and/or dawn). The battery life on my bushnell is better than any other camera I have. That being said, I do not own a Reconyx.....yet.
I felt bad even posting this thread as I am not one to ***** and complain. It's just so frustrating when a camera doesn't always trigger when It's suppose to. One advantage I have over most people In seeing If the camera's are working Is putting them on my bear baits. We put big logs over the bait. When logs are moved and there's no picture taken you know your not getting what your suppose to out of a trail camera. Never have I had white out problems or a bunch of blank picture's. My problem has been with the camera not getting triggered. I wouldn't be quite as concerned If It was just my one camera but when It's both of my camera's and my buddy's 2 camera's (4 of the exact same camera's) I then know for a fact all of these 2011 466C Bushnells are missing pics thus why I made this thread.
I've had bad experiences with several brands (bushnell, stealthcam, cuddeback, lastest spypoint). I switch brands alot and I'm cheap, maybe not the greatest combo. It seems like if it can go wrong it always does for me. Everytime I put out a new brand I have to learn that cameras strengths and weakness. I almost feel that each individual camera regardless of brand can and will have it's own flaws. I will admit that it down right sucks that you didn't get your pictures. It's happened to me...seems like every year and I'm mad until I get to go out and check my cameras again.
I ran about every brand of trail camera while I was guiding in Ontario and honestly, every single brand I used had problems triggering on bears. Even the expensive Reconyx. Those same cameras had no problems triggering on deer. I couldn't figure out why it was happening. Then I started to think that maybe bears don't give off a heat signature like other animals do, because of their longer hair. That and they move slower. That's my theory anyways.
Pretty easy to tell when the logs are moved, the bait bucket is moved or the baits gone. There would be times when the first picture was of a bear walking up to the bait and it was half gone. Amazingly, they had no problems taking pics of the ravens landing on the bait.
Figured that's what you were going to say but had to ask. Same way I knew my Bushnells were missing pics.
I dont have many bears around here but my Bushnell Trophy Cam misses a lot of pictures. Ive owned mine for three years now and the past couple of months its been missing badly. Sent it to Bushnell to see if they could fix so Ill let you know what they say.
