I've gotten some advice from a friend of mine. Here it is. Bury a Mineral Block 3/4 way in the ground near where I want to shoot. This will cause deer to make a path to this block and force a habit. Is this a good/bad/who give a hoot Idea.

Considered baiting and illegal here. I dont think of deer hitting mineral sites much during hunting season.

Deer usually wont use a mineral block in the fall and winter months. It is a good tool to use during the spring and summer for good trail cam pics. But yes, you can bury it if you like, it doesn't matter either way.

i have used deer cane here, which is basically just salt. and i have had deer hit it all season long.
you may consider this different than mineral, but it should be very similiar since many of the cheap mineral blocks are mostly just sodium (salt)

Why bury the block? Why not just pour salt from a bag onto the ground?

We have poured 4-5 can of mortons salt on the ground before a rain and the deer have gone smooooooth up crazy for it. We have also put out corn and poured vanilla on the corn. This is a good way to get trail cam pics. BUT during hunting season they have completely ignored it all. Once all the acorns are gone we feel maybe they will return to corn piles. Corn piles have to be up by Feb 1 here. No corn after.

We had apple cores left over from my wife making apple sauce, dried apples, etc.. and threw them in our backyard, the deer visited every night, even during hunting season.
