I finished my turkey arrows today and went to tuning.... First I shot my new arrows with the 125 grain practice tips. They were right on with my 100 grain tipped shorter arrows. Then I screwed on the Bullheads backed up to 20 yards and they smacked the bulls eye right where all my arrows have hit since I tuned the bow a month ago! that was it. I hope guys that are on the fence with these things givem a try. I know I can't wait 'til April! They make a little more noise in flight then my Spit fires but I'm sure at 10 yards a strutted up tom wont duck it at 295 fps. I orientated them with one blade down as per the directions. Attached are some pics of my fletched arrows and the heads themselves. Notice the fletch colors in honor of a strutting tom white, black, brown, and red.
so 4 fletches will work better than 3? I just got done sighting in my bow at 10/20 yards for this turkey season with my spitfires. I'm gonna go up to the shop this week and pick up a few arrows and bullheads and see for myself. I'll have to re-tune my bow once I get them but I enjoy the test and tune process.
Gabe, you may not have to retune your bow. I didn't have to do anything to mine. I went from 29" arrows with 100gr tip to 31" arrows with 125gr tips. I will continue to practice with them until the season opens. But I wont be shooting at birds heads outside of 15 yards so if they are dead on there they are good to me. Yes I have been told to shoot the 4" 4 feathers, and it seems to work good, you may be able to shoot 5" 3 feathers? Good luck and have fun man!
I set myself and several hunting partners up with 3, 5" feathers last season and that worked well for all of our set ups.
