I going to build new arrows after the local archery shop gets back from the ATA show.

    what arrows should I try?
My plans are to build 3 or 4 different arrows and see which set up works best.

3 or 4 arrows of each make / mod at first. Try to get them to the same weight or as close as possible.

at present I shoot black eagles. I was thinking Easton , victory, gold tip(?).

    I’m shooting the 2024 Mathew’s Lift
    29.5 draw
    70 lbs.
my arrows are at 390 grains (black eagles caravores ).

    I like the TAC vanes.

Just a project to keep me busy this off season.

I run an indoor archery shoot and I shoot all winter long.

BEA Rampages with 50 grain hits and 25 grain steel collars.
    Three Tac 2.5s

Victory Rip TKO, 50 hits and 10 grain TI collars, TAC 2.5s

BEA Spartans , 75 grain stainless Ethics half outs. Or the SS insert with 50 grain brass weight behind it. Three max stealths or 26 hybrids.

Could try the new Easton 5.0. Lite gpi and can add some weight to the front with there new inserts. Get more weight forward without a heavy arrow.

I use carbon express pile drivers 350 with a standard insert and custom aluminum footer. With a 125-grain head, im about 550 grains.

Also, use Black Eagle Rampage 250. Using their half outs that come with them and the same custom aluminum footer. About the same weight as arrow above.

Black eagle is a much better arrow. I use AAE plastifletch 26 vanes. In a 4 fletch configuration. Im happy with arrows around 500-550 gr range. I feel its a good range for noise reduction and dont get a massive drop. I try to keep my shots in 25 yard range and this allows me to shoot 1 pin.

I shot Black Eagle Renegades for several years with great success typically 300 spine at 550 grains, 20% FOC with 125 grain broadhead, and a 75 grain screw-in weight behind the 50 grain insert. Four fletch with 3” feathers.

Last two seasons have been Victory Rip Gamer TKOs, 300 spine at 19% FOC slightly lighter around 530 grains; 125 grain broadhead, 50 grain screw-in weight behind the 50 grain insert, four fletch with AAE Max Stealth vanes.

Since you asked for our opinions, in my sort of humble one, 350s are or are almost a touch light on spine for your DL and weight. I feel qualified to say that as it's the same combo I pull. By your 390 gr TAW, I am presuming you are shooting standard inserts and 100gr heads? I used to shoot 340s/350s and was OK until I bumped up my front end components and things started getting squirrelly fast. Even just going up to a 125gr head, the arrows started oscillating noticeably in flight.

Either way (standard or heavy front components) you should be able to shoot 250/300s no problem.

I've never been an Easton guy (well, not since the aluminum days) but only b/c I am too cheap. I know they're great arrows but when BEs or Vics are 2/3 the price? Plus, I put footers, heavy inserts, lighted nocks, and wraps on my arrows so I am dumping another $20 or so into each arrow on top of the out of the box price.

FWIW, in the past decade I have shot Black Eagle Rampage, Victory RIP, and Gold Tip Hunters and liked them all. The BEs are very accurate and seemed the most durable, and the .001 RIPs are the most consistently accurate shaft I have ever shot.

The Gold Tips are tough and mostly consistent enough for hunting purposes, but I have had a couple of the .006 Hunters be 'off' compared to the rest of the box. At that price point, expect to have a couple coyote arrows in every dozen. To that end; yesterday CamoFire had Gold Tip .006 hunters, $39.99 for a dozen bare shaft. Literally can't beat that price! They had 300s and up. They're not posted today, but if you're interested, keep an eye out as they usually rotate 1-2x per week until they sell out.

All that said, given your current gear and the fact you are even considering Eastons, I am guessing price is no where near your main concern. Maybe your local shop(s) have open boxes they will let you try? Esp. if you buy from them.

Oh, if you're shooting comp indoors, no way would I drop down to the Gold Tip Hunters.

in case you're keeping score, that's 3 of us that love Victory RIPs, 2 love BEA Rampages and 2 love BEA Renegades. And a throw-in vote for BEA Spartans

The first part of your comment is why I am looking to switch. My spine is lite I’ve added weight to the insert last yr.
    The BE are .001’s.

I shoot all yr , winter league and 3 D tournaments all summer and practice in between.
    Thank you for your imput

I’m a big fan of Eastons. 5mm I’d go Easton axis 300 with 50gr brass hit insert or maybe try the new 5mm from Easton, there lighter GPI. I have heard about them breaking tho and for that reason I would be weary. You can also go to the Easton sonic 6.0 there a solid 6mm choice and put 50gr insert up front. All depends on what speed you want outa the bow. We have the same specs 29.5” dl and 70lbs. My Easton arrows are 480gr-520gr depending on what shaft and brass I put up front and I’m getting 280’s fps with the 480gr and 270’s with the 500’s. Enjoy the tinkering! A lot of great options out there.

I thought about trying the Easton 5s, but I doubt I will.
I have 2 different BE carnivore set ups, heavy and "light" for 2 different bows and I've always been happy with them.

If I were to tinker and didn't mind the spend, I'd try the new Eastons.

I think you should change it up completely and sell your bow. Then get arrows to match whenever you buy

    5s been getting mixed reviews.

I can’t see better options for the RIPs and Rampages really in 5mm… Here is another unpopular option. RIP TKO are more popular than RIPs…I have about 6 dozen of both and i can’t see a freaking difference in performance. Personally i would save the money and get RIPs

Spartans are a sleeper. They are the smallest dia that except a standard insert , think the are .234 …they are a stupid easy build because they come with the best stock components, a 21 grain SS insert and SS nock receiver that allow it to use 204 nocks. So all you have to do is slap little brass weight behind your insert and your GTG, no buying HITs or collars.

they have them on clearance at BEA because the are redoing the graphics …. they are like 70 a dozen for shafts. Sharing because I bought 5 dozen for myself and two dozen for my buddy and they are on the way.
    hurry that’s like 50% off

That bow sent an BE carnivore thru a chest of a 200 lb buck. Why would I change the bow , just to sell it to you.
I don’t know why I’m changing my arrow. But I am just tinkering

I am getting 310 fps at 390 grains

I would like to keep it around 300 + fps.

I’m no ranch fairy but 390 is light for me, just look at GPI and pick an arrow that you will get your desired FPS with proper spine and good FOC. Victory rip tko makes a lighter 5mm arrow also.

    eeesh.
You're not going to be able to add much weight. If you're willing to drop down to 275-285fps, you open up your options a lot.
In my experience, the lighter gpi you go in a stiffer spine makes for a brittle arrow. They might fly like darts but when they meet a tough lateral impact they're gonna snap.
