building and "mudding" bear stands

    headed up to bear camp today. on private land and with permission, we build stands 4x4' and 8-10' off the ground. using just regular SPF lumber. these things are bright and stick out so about 10 years ago, we started "mudding" them in. basically, getting some good gooey mud and just painting them with it.
    when dry, they blend in extreamly well and shed water very well also. kinda sets up like a mortar layer.

    Nice idea... I dont know if I'd of thought of doing something like that, but I'm going to try it when I build my deer stands...
