I have a Howa 1500 in .308. Good rifle for the $$. Adjustable trigger, nice bolt, shoots better than I do. My dad has a Mossberg in .243. I have not shot it very much, but the little I have, I've had no complaints. It holds a tight group, but the bolt and trigger are not quite as nice as my Howa. Not sure if the Mossberg trigger is adjustable, though.

Love the Savage 11 and Axis rifles. Savage 11 should come with the accu-trigger and it is a sweet rifle! Just need a little better scope and it's dead on.

I'm somewhat surprised at the response, Savage has definitely made a comeback in the past decade with their rifles, but if you could get a Remington action in your price range, that's a no brainer. There is a reason that nearly all custom rifle makers build on Remington actions, not savages.

IMO, there isn't a better coyote round than the .22-250, the .243 isn't far behind (if any). The 250 is flatter than the .223 with essentially the same bullet. The .243 give you the versatility to shoot the same weight 55gr or 58gr bullet in factory ammo (Hornady or Winchester) and run it 600fps faster than the 250 (Hornady Superformance 58gr vmax). If you ever do want to hunt something different, you can buy factory 100 or 105 gr bullets.

I agree the 22-250 is a superior round than the 223........at the time i chose my 223 it was due to cost and availability of ammo.....not much of a comparison now a days......I do love my 223 though and its been very effective with those little bastards....if I had to do it now id go with the 250....243 is also effective but I would take a 223 over that all day long.....personal shooting preference I guess
