Thought this was interesting... The buck was from this year, the shed was from his 2008 rack. His 2008 rack had some busted points so I did my best to estimate the broken tines based on game camera pictures of him from that year.

I have another one to post, but I cannot locate the score sheet for that buck. I will post it when I find it.

Post yours as well. This could be an interesting thread.

Don't have any of the ones I have killed. I do have one that I passed on because I thought it was to small (body was so big made the rack look small) plus it was heading right towards my wife. The shed scored 64 5/8.
I would have liked a do over on that one! Hell, I would like a do over on several now that I think about it. LOL

Very cool Scott. I don't have anything to contribute yet but I find it interesting how much they can add in one or two years. Did you age this particular buck when you killed him?

Many of the bucks I've killed didn't have antlers the year before....

I've raised the bar somewhat, but no, I've never killed a deer that I had sheds from.

OK... So I am not sure if the fire claimed the score sheet from this buck or I just cannot find it...

So I put a quick tape to it. Again, this shed had a busted off tine, the G2 so I assumed tine length for that point.

The shed was his 2001 rack, I took the buck in 2004.

Took this guy in 2009, have the sheds for him from 2007 and 2008.

Actually think he may have lost some inches from 08 to 09. but made up the difference in increased mass.

The G4 on the right was about an inch shorter, and the G4 on the left was about 3-4" shorter.

Seemed as a general rule of thumb, for whatever reason, alot of the sheds we found in 09 were not a whole lot bigger than the ones from 08. This year seems to be the opposite, will see what we can find for sheds to compare to the batch from 09.

You are too early with this thread dammit. Haven't got my buck back from the Taxy yet. The rack is there... not here.

I've got another buck that I found one shed to when he was 2.5. He really grew and changed at 4.5 years old. I'll try to get that posted tonight.

I've got 1 rifle buck that we have a shed to but I suppose you are only talking bow bucks right ??

Interesting stuff here. Back In 2008 my brother hit what we thought was a 160 Inch 10 point according to trail cam pics high In the back above the spine. Later that year In the winter a friend of my bros found the shed from the smaller side and It measured out at 65 Inches so we were about 5 Inches off on what we thought he would score. We figured this buck to be a 4.5 or possibly a 5.5 In 2008. The next year (2009) my bro's buddy got a trail cam pic of him and this time he was an 8 point (140 Incher or so). This year (2010) during the slug season It appears this buck was finally shot. He was an 8 point again and he's lucky If he makes 130 to 135 Inches according to a cell phone pic.

I talked to him a couple weeks ago and he was still waiting to get the cape back. He said I was top priority so hopefully within the next month or so.
