I decided to do a little "shed scouting" this evening before dark in hopes of finding the areas where the deer are hitting hard for food. The bucks should be dropping pretty good in the next 2-3 weeks so I'm trying to focus in on a few spots to start looking, rather than just taking a shot in the dark. I saw a bunch of does tonight, and a group of three really good bucks. The first buck that caught my eye was the biggest 4 point I've ever seen. He only had 1/2 a rack, which is encouraging. Unfortunately I couldn't get him to turn sideways for the camera, but when he did he only had a big giant fork. From the looks of this guy's face, he looks like an older buck.

Forky was running with a really good typical 10 point that looks like he'll go about 150 or so. He has good mass, good brows, and is well past his ears. I couldn't get any good shots of him as he was in some thicker brush and wouldn't move, but this will give you an idea.

The third buck was a solid 140" 8 point but he was too far back to get any photos of. I watched him through binos for awhile before moving on. I believe these deer were headed towards some nearby hay fields on private land (they were photographed on public land) but I'm still hopeful that we may pick up some bone in the area.

Now it's time to hurry up and wait!

"Public land" around here means "Forest Presrves that nobody is allowed to hunt on, surrounded by multi-million dollar homes on 10+ acre lots where nobody hunts either". AKA - the deer are used to seeing humans and don't really recognize them as danger like the rest of the world. But hey, it's a 5 minute ride down the road and makes for something fun to do. :D

Good looking pics bud. I want to kill a big fork or 6 someday. One of those freak 5.5 year old+ bucks. Who cares about score, the character would define him.

Justin, thats one wild 4 point unless he is a Rob buck. I seen one like that years ago during the season. He had a side like that but the other side was normal and BIG. Yeah, i missed him

I better take my camera with me shed hunting tomorrow. From the sound of things, the only thing I might be coming home with would be a picture of bucks holding their racks.
