Well I've been out duck hunting the past few weeks. It's been an okay season so far. I only have a doe tag left and I can't help but think about how badly I'd rather be up in a tree hunting for antlers than in a marsh blowing air through a piece of wood. This is the first season in 10 seasons that I've taken to deer hunting over duck hunting. All I can think about is the upcoming deer shotgun season (never really hunted deer with a gun before) and the January bow season when I get 2 more tags.

There both a blast to do. But no way would I ever choose deer over ducks! When duck season rolls around it's the only way to go.

It's dee for me man...few ducks here and there. But January is when the goose hunter comes out in me. I can't take it. It's all I could think about today listening to them flying around while I was in a tree!!!

This is what I have been doing.

Every year It seems like I prefer calling ducks and geese in vs hunting deer. I think the main reason is the action can be non-stop when waterfowl hunting a good spot. So Im really torn between the two. However once early November comes around I will have to tell myself to hunt in a treestand vs a blind in the morning lol

I've become hooked on the trophy aspect it seems. Before the season opener I was completely prepared to come up empty on deer and get right in the duck blind for my favorite season. But today while I was in the blind all I could think about was another set of antlers coming down a trail below a tree stand. The thought of having only a doe tag isn't as exciting, either. Maybe it's just because my duck season has been slow the past week.

Im a duck hunter to the core, if i have ducks lined up for the next day ill be in the marsh no matter if it is the peak of the rut or not. nothing gets me going like a big ol' wad of ducks sittin on my decoys right at daybreak
