A couple weeks ago I noticed that one of our good up and coming 3 year olds had developed a large abscess on his left side. He was shot last year in this general area and obviously lived, but there was no growth or abscess until just recently. It appeared virtually out of nowhere, was there for about 2 weeks and then it must have popped and now it's gone. Pretty interesting thing to see.

I bet it was a pretty gross sight to see when it popped. At least it's gone and hopefully it won't come back.

You gotta wonder what happened with the shot. That looks like a pretty good area for a kill shot.

Maybe the angle was too steep and they barely got him.

I had one I named Syxbyfive last year do something similar but as far as I know he wasn't shot. His problem was on the other side and just in front of his back leg. I thought he got gored by another buck but don't know. He got in pretty poor shape and then it just all at once it was gone and he healed up and is still running around. He's just a 10 point this year though rather than an 11 like last year.

It was low - barely clipped the bottom of his belly.
