I know it's been awhile since my initial post of my 2016 buck harvest but here is the update on my first buck. The deer was harvested on October 1st. Carcass weight on the rail from the meat locker was 200 lbs and an estimated live weight of around 266 lbs. It was a tank of a deer and a heck of a drag. I decided to get a shoulder mount and I couldn't be happier with it. I was able to get 120 pounds of meat from the deer and made 35 bags of jerky for family and friends for Christmas. The shoulder mount was done by Gary King of Kings Taxidermy out of Ingalls, KS. I am proud to say the deer made Pope and Young with a net nontypical score of 173 3/8". It was more than I was thinking and I'm lucky to have harvested such a deer with my bow. I wish you all luck in the upcoming season and look forward to being in the stand. God Bless.
