My cousin tonight said he saw one of our big bucks roughly 3 miles away from where we got his picture during August. The buck was heading away from our land when he saw him. I know a buck can be 3 miles away during the rut but here in Wisconsin we are a good 2 weeks away from the rut getting underway. Has anyone else ever seen a buck go 3+ miles away from where they were during summer?
My 2 cents..hes lookin to fatten up,and look for a ''hot''lady to say ...''hi''! 2!!! Older Does get''hot''sooner? Yes????
I have been hearing and seeing some chasing and grunting. It wouldn't surprise me at all he is on the prowl !
I heard from a man that has a deer farm that 'Alpha' does come into estrus ~28 days before all others. He's out lookin...
He may be into the rutting movement already, however, I think it is more likely that when you got picture of him he was still on his sumer range and now he has settled back to his core area.
Actually my girlfriends sister says that she has already seen a buck chasing a doe through the field next to where she lives, surpirised me, but they may be starting already.
yeah I actually thought that while I was typing it...but owell, I live in Green Bay, don't get to see too many deer there, she lives out in the country next to farm fields, so sometimes I have to use the loose connection of a future sister in law
