Haven't had this deer on camera this year. He has some good character with his split brow tines. As you can see he is already scraping and hitting the licking branch. Might be the earliest I've ever got this on camera. Usually I set the camera's up after I find a scrape so this is a first for me.

Deer will hit a licking branch all year, it's a communication device.

I suggest checking into pre-orbital gland scent to keep the licking branch fresh and the competition steadily checking it!

Well I've heard that but this camera has been over this spot all year and this is the first. I don't add any foreign scent to a hunting area, I think it does more harm than good and is a waste of money.

Then you haven't researched all the scents available today. Natural Glandular type scents are in the woods daily like a dog peeing on a fire hydrant it's a natural communication device.

It has nothing to do with researching scents. I know deer leave scent all year long just like all animals in the woods. I also understand and am well aware that you can buy orbital scents on the market but that doesn't mean I trust the product or where it came from and I'm definitely not going to apply it in my woods. I've used scents for many years and have felt they do far more harm than good.
