Ok, I hunt in a backyard. The home owner has a line of pine trees around his in ground swiming pool. After I did a mock scrape (Nov 3) on the other side of his lot, 2 of the 10 pine trees have big rubs on them. I just put new deer pee in the mock scrape dripper and now theres only 2 trees left that don't have any rubs on them. My question is, since I put new deer pee in the drip, does the buck think theres a new buck in the area and wanted to show off or there really is a new buck in the area and to piss off the other guy, he rub on the other trees next to his rubs?
Imposible to answer put up a camera and find out. Just make sure the camera is put in a spot it will not spoke the deer.
That's hard to say. Each bottle of scent most likely is a different deer so he could think that it's a different buck or there could be a different buck in the area. Like Juice9 says, "put up a trail camera."
The funny part is, there was a trail cam there and I didn't see anything for 2 weeks. I removed it and the next morning is when there was rubs all over.
Could be either, a thing that people often dont know is that deer have scent glands at the base of their antlers and rubbing is another way of scent marking not just strengthening their necks up for the rut or to remover velvet. Just put your camera back up like juice9 said, good luck if your going after him.
Ive never really messed with putting cams on rubs but i will say scrapes and mock scrapes are great for getting an inventory on the bucks in your area, You might be surprised with how many different bucks are in your area.
