Ha! Small world. I live down on the Illinois Wisconsin border in Walworth County. But my dad has a summer home up in Westfield that is connected to public hunting grounds. Then hunting there for about 25 years. I love it up in Marquette County. I grew up camping up there at Buffalo Lake Campground. Public land up there is very pressured so I never have Highhope's during gun season, in fact have only seen a handful of bucks and gun season. I see a lot more during archery just don't have much time to scout so by the time I get it figured out that year my rut cation is over

We'll I finally made it back out to the stand today. This weather is ridiculous. I even packed my thermacell because it's so warm!! The orange army comes out tomorrow here in Minnesota and the neighbors to the south of me right now are setting up their deer blind!! Good luck to everyone and hopefully I'll connect tonight, otherwise I've gotta wait until slug season is over. [IMG]

Well guys, I got it done yesterday!!! He's my first archery deer and the curse has been broken. By curse, I mean, I havnt shot a deer in 10 years since I met my wife (we joke shes my bad luck charm) but I broke it yesterday. Im pumped with the harvest, even though he's not the biggest!!! Well done, Choppernut!

I shot a nice 8 pointer yesterday and only got 3" of penetration. Tracked it for hundreds of yards. Blood was scant, mostly and it was bright red (meat hit). I obviously hit it in the shoulder. I am just hoping he will live

Congrats again to all that have scored

For the people not in the group text, I had a 110-115 inch 8 point at about 60 yards this morning. Really pretty buck. If only he would have been 15 yards closer!

    Thanks!

Im in ohio. Its supposed to be warming up all day tomorrow and be a high of 57 Saturday with rain the better part of the day. im hoping that the coming rain will have him on his feet during shooting light. We can still hunt till the beginning of February.

What sucks is we have a gun weekend this weekend then muzzleloader in two weeks.

I will probably only be able to hunt this guy for another week because he has shed before Christmas the past 2 years.

Well so far I haven't had much time to go late season, however starting this Friday I'll have 11 days off in a row. By next week I'll see if I can put a doe down. :tu:
