This deer has good potential, but many of the members on here have said he is young. If he was a public land buck would he be a target for any of you guys?
Shouldn't matter who he is a target for except you. If he is a target for you, good luck killing him. If not, good luck killing whatever is a target for you.
I would like to see him make another year because I believe he has the potential to be a really good buck. I'm still waiting to see what else I'll get on the cam. I don;t want to see this buck get shot this year, but you never know... he could survive the season and then get hit by a car. decisions...decisions...
Here is something that will save you tons of worry over the course of your hunting career...Stop caring what the fate of ANY buck is that you don't shoot. It's out of your hands. Who cares whether he gets shot 3 seconds after you pass on himn or he lives to die of old age and is never seen by another hunter? Hunt for what is likely to be in your area THIS YEAR, not what might be there next year. It keeps your mind free of worry and allows you to enjoy yourself
Amen, for your average Joe it is hard to keep tabs on a buck year in and year out. Passing the buck could pay off just as easily as it couldn't. None of that matters in the big picture, who really cares about his headgear or his age as long as your satisfied with him? If he makes you happy then the "what could have beens" don't matter at all!
That's some solid advice and actually puts me at ease a little bit. I guess I'm just getting anxious and want the season to be here already. Hopefully I see some better deer so I don't shoot that one.
Well...thats fine. You'll probably reach a point in your hunting career where you'll decide to pass on certain bucks. However, if you never reach that point...thats still okay. It goes back to shooting what you want and not what others want you to. Good luck this fall!
There are no guarantees that WE will be around next year, let alone that buck. If you want to shoot him, shoot him.
