Bought mine directly from Lowe's. I have not even opened mine up, waiting for the opener. Still waiting to hear from others that have used it this year. Hoping for some good news. We have less than 2 weeks for the opener here in Tennessee.
Ive used mine that last two weeks and I cant say yay or nay. No deer have come in spooked but its not a pressured area.
I can't wait to try mine out. I plan on using it opening day but its killing me waiting until the 27th.
As I have previously posted, I thought that I got a bad can of Buck Butter when I received it from BowhuntersSuperstore. I emailed Rick Lowe (the maker and owner) Monday night after another hunt of getting blown and asked him what the product was supposed to look and smell like and proceeded to tell him about mine. He replied the same night asking for my address and that he will ship a new can tomorrow for free. As BOWHUNTANDLIVE said, it's supposed to be golden and not be overly pungent.. The new can Rick Lowe sent me is on the right.. Can't wait to try it out Saturday morning
Check it josh, I was blown 3/3 hunts that I used the bad one..it was very frustrating being it was the first 3 days of the season. However, he did say I can use the old can and make a scrape..we will see what happens and I will keep this thread updated
I'm going to when I get off work today seeing how my season starts next Saturday. Hopefully if its bad I'll get a new one sent for free too.
Mine was dark also. Got mine 2 days ago and used it last night . I just finished putting it on the ground and started my walk of 10 yards to the tree stand when all of a sudden trees started falling and the sound of trees breaking and snapping became apparent. There were 4 moose in all,2 calves,a cow and a young bull. They were 48 yards from me at the time it happened, I still had 3 steps to the stand. All of a sudden the cow lifts her head and smells and she's directly down wind of the buckbutter. She calms and starts eating as do the rest of the moose. I climb up into my stand and the cow comes to with in 7 yards of the Buckbutter and smells again. She turns and returns to eating leaves and they stick around for another hour a 1/2. Not sure if the buck butter did it's trick of fooling her nose, but that's one heck of a big nose ,LMAO. I also opened one up in my stand to use as a cover scent as I chose to not wear my scent-loc. When I opened that one they all came to attention and started to smell the wind. They also calmed down again and started to browse again. So I'm not sure if it worked or not but the moose sure didn't seem to mind it! I sent in the photo to Lowe's also after reading that it's supposed to look yellow. Rocky
Mine didn't look bad to me. It did smell terrible though. I'll post a pic later so you guys can give me a second opinion.
LOL.......the main ingredient in the product is PISS.....in my experience it isnt supposed to smell good, regardless of the age...just sayin
Yeah I am hoping someone posts a "dead deer walking" pic and an awesome story about how the deer stuck its nose in the jar.....oh btw....if you guys are dumping this stuff on the ground and not just opening the jar and placing it on the ground...youre gonna go through a lot this season...just keep it in the jar and pick it up after every hunt...
Ok so I decided to try this stuff out before I got blown out of the tree opening day. I have a camera under an apple tree that is only 30 yards off of a blacktop road. I'm able to check this camera with little to no pressure to the rest of the farm. I like to use this spot to test things before I use them around my stands. I put a little on a rock and put the rock 10 feet in front of the camera. I was basically just making sure there was no negative response and figured I would see deer feeding under the apple tree in the background. What I found was much much more. Notice these deer don't feed at all, they came in nose in the air and walked directly to the rock. The first buck even returned hrs later. The second buck is a deer that I didn't have any pics of before now.
