Got In Late Got in by 10:30 and nothing till I left. I silenced my phone and checked for messeges. 1 voice message from my DR. Come in as soon as possible,I packed up and took a step out of the blind and over the hill comes a 7x6 with 2 does, I guessed him at 170ish. Go figure huh! Something important comes up and he appears. Looks like he was chasing, back at tomorrow after my visit to the Dr's. Good luck team. Rocky
Hey fellas, a reminder for anyone that has killed something and not entered it in the score card. Do it!!!!!
Packed up the bow for a couple weeks. NY gun opens this Saturday runs for like 3 weeks. Then bow comes back in for a week along with muzzleloader. Maybe I can get a doe to add to the score card but it's going to be awhile. Good luck everybody. Hope you get a good report Rocky.
Not Bad News Still not verified, Doc said we won't know 100% till Dec 2nd, it's a neurological problem that can be rectified with therapy. They told me I have to retire and collect Insurance till I'm 65 . Hunting out of a tree stand is out of the question but a blind is tolerated with no more of a walk of 300 yards till I can increase the distance. So I'm relieved that it wasn't Cancer or any other disease. What a God Send. I'm lucky to continue with therapy and continue to do the things I choose to do . Thank You All that have prayed for me I'm truly Blessed. The disease is called Neuropathy ! Thanks guys, Thank God for Life it's realy not a bad disability to get Rocky
Got some news today that really got me pissed. Sorry but I have to rant a little. So I got permission to hunt the farm I hunt through a buddy I worked with. When he was moving out of state he talked to the landowner and he agreed to give me the permission to hunt. So for the last 3 years I've had the only permission to hunt. It is a 125 acre piece that is 100 acres of plantable fields and only a 20-25 acre strip of timber. So fast forward to today. I get a text from the guy I used to work with, I haven't talked to him in over a year. He is at the farm with a buddy. He said he called the landowner a month ago and he was told he could come hunt. So he pretty much drove or walked over the entire property today, poured corn out at a few spots and will be hunting for the next 4 days straight. I feel like I got kicked in the nuts. I understand it's not my decision and that I am a guest myself but damn it! I'm not sure how to handle the situation as far as killing deer is concerned. Should I just let the property rest for a few weeks after they leave? Or continue to hunt it?
BearMethod1976 I'd say hunt it ,it's the rutt and it's late, the bucks don't care, go for it good luck my friend. Other bucks will come and check for does also. Rocky
There's still quite a few tags out there to be filled guys, I hope anyway. My season ended a while ago out here and unfortunately wasn't able to put one on the board for us. Lots of hunting left and either way, I'm glad to have gotten to know all of you better. I love this forum and the deer contest. It gets hunters from across the country together to talk and have fun. I've been on the forum for 3 years and enjoyed every minute of it. Thanks!
I don't think it was added in. I thought our score looked low. I did check and make sure he entered my doe
Hope to Be Able To Contribute Was in a blind till dark today and fell coming out, it was only -7 all day . The Dr told me I'll have trouble with the heat and cold. I was able to get up and dust off but sure had a hard time walking out. Rest of the week is supposed to be -7 and lower so i'll not be going out. Next week it's supposed to warm up with a high of o so If it stays warm i'll hit the woods again .If not I'll keep out of the woods, hunting just starting to get good.Hopefully I can tag one then. Good luck team. Rocky
