Checked the apple tree cam today. "Stud" was a no show this week but I did get a few pics of another buck I've been watching.

The earliest I have him is 8:51pm but I'm not too worried about the times. I've learned over the years that eventually every deer on the property will visit this apple tree thats located 30yards off of the road. This is the only camera I will check until after the season starts. It's helped a lot keeping the pressure down.

That's an awesome buck! I have a 7pt on my property. I know he is about 2yrs old cause I saw him when he was a fawn. Not a shooter for me. Hopefully he makes it through the season and I can get a crack at him next year

Hey Vermont, I hope you stick a nice bear. I killed my first in Manitoba this year. Weighed 302 lbs and scored 18 3/8". I was pretty excited.

I've been hunting with the Killzone since 2012 and have been pleased. I like the larger cutting diameter and they are very accurate out of my bow. I was always a Muzzy guy and still am for fixed heads. Killed a lot of things with the 100 gr 4 blade. My buddy has never used anything else but the Muzzy 100 gr 3 blade and he won't be changing any time soon. Muzzy blades really hold up well and I've killed moose, elk, mule deer, whitetail, antelope and hogs with them.

Thanks JGD, at it again this morning, different stand today, couldn't stomach walking up the hill in the dark for a third day in s row. Sitting over my brassica plot, two apple trees here and a brook. One of the Bears I've seen has cruised through here a couple times this year on camera.

Going out this week to set up 2 Blinds and start hunting by the end of the month ,that's when the Moose start to rut and the deer start to come to rattling.Never thought I would step foot in the bush this year. So glad I got my knee replacement done in July instead of next week.I won't be able to get up a tree into a stand but heck ,I'll still be hunting. Yahoo ,lets go team! Oh yeah, got to put out 3 tc's too.

With the season apraoching so quickly, I finally got around to building a new half dozen last night...Gold Tip Kinetics

Wrapped, fetched, and ready to eat!

Now just need to hang one last stand this Saturday, if I run out of time and don't get to hang the set it will just be a spot that I will be mobile in and use my lone wolf and sticks in. That's not a bad thing either, there are 3 other stands on this property already for different winds, but this is an area I would love to get into this season!

OHHHH BOYYYYYY, just my luck! On top of trying to get ready for the quickly approaching season I seem to be in a big jam over here!!!! This October is my 5th anniversary with my ol'lady and I started the process of getting an engagement ring made. Well, after blowing my budget completely out of the water on what I felt was a great ring for her it is finally ready and I will be picking it up this Thursday. My plan was to take her on an hour long private hot air balloon ride where I would then propose 1,200 feet in the sky. We would be surrounded by completely beautiful and breathtaking views and then would be able to pop open a bottle of bubbly up there and enjoy the rest of the flight. My plan was for Saturday, September 17th. Just got off with the company and BAM! They gave that reservation date to someone else and is telling me the next available morning flight I could book is October 1st, OPENING DAY!!!!! No clue on what to do here! Def will be contacting some other companies around that do this as well and see if they can accommodate me and stay within the same price. I sure hope it works out though! This is way too much stress right now!

Good luck man! Here's the way I see it. If you have to do it opening morning, she should be so excited you can hunt the rest of season with no problems. I wouldn't worry too much about opening morning when you're trying to plan something like this. Proposing is once is a lifetime, or should be anyway, but there will be countless other mornings and evenings to hunt. And if she loves you, she'll know what you gave up to propose on opening morning. Hopefully she won't realize it's opening morning or the surprise may be blown. But good luck either way, let us know how it goes!

Well I didn't hunt this weekend. We rented a beach house in Castroville right on the water. Great weekend with some great friends. I did get some good news from my dad last friday thought and a couple new bucks showed up on his property. 3x2 and a 2x2. Neither are record book bucks but my options are getting better. Going up Friday afternoon to move a stand and hunt the weekend.

Couldn't agree more. Relax and do it opening day. Then you hunt knowing you had your priorities in order and the hunt will feel that much better. Good luck brother, it sounds like you have a great plan to surprise her.

haha thanks for the encouraging words fellas! She def is awesome and she supports my love for hunting and knew what she signed up for 5 years ago as we started dating right when the season started. The thing that worries me is she'll def think something is up if I'm not in a tree on opening morning! haha I have some figuring out to do!

Jedi, that certainly is some good news! Good luck with them! Had a busy weekend myself celebrating the long weekend and we finished our dock in front of our house out east on long island, so super pumped about that! We have been waiting for the approval for the permits required to put a dock on our water property in front of the house for about 5 years now!

    Nice boat and dock!

Definitely propose first. Once in a lifetime thing that you'll always have in the memory bank. That's important as you marriage matures.
