So I like my browning strike force camera it takes nice pictures. I have noticed a potential problem and wondering if others have seen the same. When the batteries are just below 50% in it gets a little cool at night the camera does not capture any images, daylight pictures only. I just noticed it again last night no pics right before dark when I watched 2 bucks 10' in front of the camera. New batteries I guess.

Yes they are not going to work at that level. When mine hit 50 anything I change them out.

Yup seen the same thing. I think they disable it to avoid the flash to conserve battery. I will say though that on a set of lithiums I am getting 16 months of life so far and it now time to change them.

I've had the same issue but the batteries were alot less than 50%. You might check their website and see if there is a software update.

Mine stop taking night pictures at about 30%. My older browning cams don't do this, but all 4 of my newer ones that use 6 AAs with the half door do.

Get a upgrade I just had to last Monday. 888.618.4496 they email you a executable that you put on a card and load... It takes like 12 mins from start to finish.

I haven't noticed this issue with mine. I do however have video issues. I will get one or two 5 second vids and then they are all a split second and you can just barely see the deer move. Anyone else have this happen?

I had a shot at a nice buck chasing a doe a few weeks back. Completely whiffed the shot but was excited cause they walked right in front of the camera. I swapped the as card out and was very disappointed to see no pics. Not sure what battery life was at though. Still I don’t care what the battery life is. Take the effing pics day or night until the batteries are dead. I’ve got the browning strikeforce sub micro 18mp

Mine will still take videos during the day under 50% but at night they I get some short videos and some files that say can not play. With pictures I'm sure it would go much lower on power before having issues.

That is the same with mine as well. Also depends on the temperature. I recently switched my batteries to lithiums and gonna see how well they hold up in my strike force.

For the record, my stealth cam does the exact same thing below 50% battery. :tu:

So basically they are just pretending to have these long battery life's when really 50% is the new 10% lol

Yep just saw this with a camera pull today. The batteries were dead when I got there and I noticed I had almost zero night pictures last few days. It's been pretty cold here too but I'm not sure if the cold made much difference. I'll be getting that update loaded that's for sure. Thanks for that info.

  13. if you were to buy one now, would it have the update?

My stealthcam does the same thing too when it's cold out, even with lithium batteries.

I have mine on video mode and have tons of all white videos that won’t open. I thought it was my card reader until reading this post. Going to dig into getting that update tomorrow.

My USA trail cam does it when cold. 15 second videos turn into 3-5 seconds. Say 1% battery at night then like 80% during day.

I had the same issue... after 3yrs it just stopped taking pictures. I had a mock Scrape I made 2-3wks before the season started. It was the only one I made that really took off. I wasn’t able to hunt it bc it was only accessible by boat on some public ground. When I went back in December on a kayak just to check cameras it went out on me. I had nothing. Changed batteries and the damn thing won’t turn on. The Scrape worked beautifully. I checked it all summer every three weeks and had mediocre activity but the Scrape was awesome. I had huge rubs all around the area and fresh dirt kicked up on leaves. But no pictures. Made me sick. I will not buy another one. But yeah the same thing happened to mine. It got cold and started acting up. You can see a video of the mock Scrape here: https://instagram.com/p/Bcly35ylhMt/

I added the external battery pack for both of my spec Ops Extreme. It will do the same thing but it takes twice as long to go dead.

This is the cold hard truth, cameras do not work well in the cold. And battery meters are not accurate. These are cheap $30 to make chinese cameras with rebranding. After running 10+ different brands over the last 15 years I’ve come to this conclusion.

You will from time to time get one that works better than others, but even then I’ll have exact model cameras perform differently, it’s all a crap shoot.

Best advice: lithium batteries. The problem will still exist it will just take longer to develop.

Or just buy the $24 dollar tascos at Walmart. Less heart burn when they do mess up or stolen if you’re like me Hunting Public Land.
