Well, the fall season got kicked off today. I feel like crap from catching the local cold but that couldn't keep me from checking trail cams and climbing in a tree this evening after work. I got a couple of nice cameras off of Schultzy last Thursday and put them right to work on Friday. One pulled a blank but the other made up for it. Here's a teaser: I about dumped a load in my waders when I viewed the first set of eyes staring at me in the exact spot I was standing just 14 hours before I checked it. He looks to be about a 9 footer which makes him a maybe. It'll depend on how blood thirsty I am when he walks under me. The amazing one is the one of him out at 11:30 in the morning the day after I set the camera! Here's the rest. http://s252.photobucket.com/albums/...Kodiak 2010/Bear Hunting/?albumview=slideshow I'll add to this thread as the season progresses.
You lucky SOB. Sooooo many critters to chase and so little time to get it done. Just don't piss one of those big guys off. We want you back. Good luck getting a Browny down Rob.
I've hunted enough with Rob to know "luck" is not part of the equation. The bear will either get Rob or Rob will get the bear. I pray for the latter. Shoot straight amigo!
You're obviously used to it, but if I ever pulled my cams and saw that first picture.....I'd never go out in the dark again! And I'd poop my pants like Tony.
Nice pics Rob...I'll enjoy this thread...I think the hair on my neck stood up a little bit sitting at my desk here in IL Can't imagine how "keyed up" I'd be in those woods...Down a biggun!
"Uncontrollable Fecal Discharge", or UFD, is a common side effect of bowhunting brown bears. UFD is often coupled with SUL, "Spontaneous Urinary Leakage". It is recommended to wear waterproof carbon clothing. If UFD & SUL persist, please consult your doctor. :D ... Wow! What a beast for sure
LOL!!! Exactly. Very cool, Rob. I honestly don't know how you do it. I don't know if I have the nerves for it. Good luck, to you!
This guy came under me just as shooting light started to dim. I definitely had plenty of light to kill him but the camera was another story. I've got him on the trail camera but he's a little guy so he got a pass for tonight. Hopefully I'll see him in about 4 years. He literally walked right under me. Stupid thing even walked into the wind, upstream right to the tree I was perched in. rather artistic...?
Rob, I've talked to the wife and she has agreed to a temporary divorce. Does Alaska recognize same-sex marriages as part of the 2nd degree of kinship? I'll divorce you just as soon, or shortly after, the bear hits the ground-I promise!
Boy... if it were me... I would be a hell of a lot higher up in that tree then you !!! Oh and the bears wouldn't be the only ones chitting in the woods that day if he walked by. :D Tim
