Do brow tines emerge over time or do deer either have them or not ? Most of the bucks I see in my area don't have any.
I don't think you can tell if they are 1.5, but at 2.5 if they are going to get them you should know.
I read somewhere that while genetics does play a factor, widespread lacking of brow tines is more of an indicator of nutritional deficiency. You can't believe everything you read, but that's what I've read.
It's genetics mostly. If they have sucky browtines at 2.5 years old.. they'll pretty much always have crummy browtines. No browtines at all is bummer. Where I'm hunting now, most of the bucks have dinky browtines (but at least they have them).
