Had a big 3.5 yr old 8 at 15 yards walking straight at me...I was sitting at ground level. I drew back hoping he would turn and give me a shot, but instead he spun and trotted off. Will be hunting some public land tomorrow that butts up to qdm land. Have had very good encounters there.

It's cold, cloudy, and really windy here.

My 10 month old has got her first cold and it made for a restless night last night. Expecting to have round 2 tonight, hope she can fight off this sickness fast! No hunting for me this weekend.

Had a pretty entertaining guys. The mature does are back with their fawns. Even got to watch one reunite with her fawns. Kinda cool. Did see a nice up and coming 10ptr that had his left G2 broke off. Probably only 110-115" deer. All-in-all a real good evening!!

Had a short sit this morning. Windy rainy and a tree branch fell right next to me and I called it quits. Me and another guy were the only two without some sort of cover or way to stay dry and he was walking back to the house when I was lol. Hopefully the other guys still out there can get it done

leaving for work this morning the boys were all grouped up. my wife said Look there honey there are all your deer. :poke:
sure enough there stood the Broken main 4 ( other side is missing). a 4. 2 spikes and the 7. all just hanging out on the edge of the wood-line. Like a group of guys at the club looking for a bar mate. Being turkey weekend with my mom i dont see much hunting happening today or Sunday. Going to Lubbock for the real thing so there goes those days. I would really like to be a better help to this team but this year is just not goign very well in the mother nature side. good luck to all of you. Have a great Thanksgiving.

Had blood for 350 yards then nothing.... can't find a thing no idea how the deer is still alive lol. While I was tracking I seen a deer running and I thought it was his deer and that I kicked it up then I seen another deer right behind it well then I realized oh **** they're running right at me! It was a doe with a spike chasing her then while they blew past me at 5 yards and never saw me I heard grunting and there's a 10 pt that's right on their tail! Full out chasing all within 5 yards and never saw me it was definitely a cool experience

I'll probably be out of the woods for a week or so I have to work around the house and mess with my truck and it's the holidays so always have stuff to do then. it's gun season here November 28th and me and a buddy will be going down to the cabin to gun hunt December 2nd-4th then. I'll still try to sneak out a few evenings with the bow before then

Rifle season is over and there are a lot of frustrated hunters. The weather didn't cooperate very well and the full moon hit at the wrong time for them. Probably the toughest gun season in a very long time. Most are starting to catch on to what the bow hunters have been saying for a few years now, unless the rut is in full swing you don't see deer. The last couple years the rut hit perfectly for rifle season and they had deer running everywhere, this year it hit the week before and the weather gave them fits. With low numbers that meant they were looking at spikes and only occasional does.

I drove by my place yesterday afternoon to see how many trucks were parked around the area and didn't see any. Talked to my dad last night and he said that the coffee shops were full of guys giving it up after the morning sit yesterday if not before that. Hopefully that means we'll have a few more does that survived and we can move a little closer to a recovery.

I plan on getting out at least once over the holiday weekend, hopefully I can get lucky.

Going to throw a plug for a product that I have really enjoyed using this year and you have seen me wearing. They are faceshields by saltarmor. They are super cheap I paid $15 for 5 of them and they are great. It's been hard for me to find a faceshield that I really like and I have used mine elk hunting, bow, gun, waterfowl, and I have worn it to keep the sun off my face and neck while fishing this past summer. I will probably buy 5 more and give some away just because I like them so much.
