Just bumped a big buck walking into my stand. . Lunch meeting ran long and it may have cost me. Good news is I just saw the biggest deer I've seen in several years. All I can hope is that his doe leads him back this way.
My dads coming down here tomorrow and I couldn't be more excited. He had a heart attack about a year and half ago and it was very severe. He was gone for 45 minutes until and they shocked him 5 times to get him back. Hasn't hunted since, Nothing I want to see more than him get back into hunting and I really hope I can set him up on a deer tomorrow. That would make me happier than anything in the world Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Enjoy those times in the woods with your dad as much as you can, while you can. They are special times!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Going out for a full day 2moz, morning temps 37f with a hi of 55f. I'm going out with everything I got. It the last day before rifle season opens on Saturday.
Good luck. I'll be out friday morning. This our last weekend to bow hunt. Our gun season starts on Tuesday 15th.
So far I have had 2 does go past at 40yds and I called in a buck to 35yds. He had his right side missing and only had his main beam and g2 on the other side, looks like he was a 8p.
I'm stuck in the office all day today but will be doing an all day sit tomorrow. Saturday is the start of rifle season so tomorrow represents my last real day of hard hunting. We have been consistently seeing a good buck, probably will go in the 130s, that I bumped out on my way into my stand the other day. We hunted a different farm yesterday afternoon and didn't see anything but the farmer pulled in and started cutting corn shortly after I got in the stand. I have high hopes for tomorrow, that good buck has been very consistent in his movements. Just a matter of being in the right place at the right time.
Well guys I just called a 9p in to 30yds. I kept going bk and forth if I wanted to shoot him, he was at the lower end that I aim for but I decided to let him go. I'm sorry if it comes to bite the team in the butt but he was not the buck for me at this time.
This was Andrew before he became part of our team!!! Way to go "weak link"!! You're carrying us now!!
Don't worry at all Eric. I know the part of the state you hunt. You're in as good of a shape to kill a big buck as anyone. I'd wait also. I don't mind gun season too much anymore. The deer go nocturnal then show back up in the daylight when it is cold looking for food. That's when I put the heat on them.
I'll be out hopefully tomorrow evening but definitely Saturday morning! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hahaha that's a 17 year old kid with that small 6pt.. I have matured a lot as a hunter the last 4 years and learned so much more than I ever thought was possible! Only way to go is up for me! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Sitting in a funnel that goes around the house and my dads sitting on the other side of the hill in a nice funnel also! Hope he can lay down a bruiser because he's about 25 yards off a real nice rub line Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
