Found out some bad news today. The farm where I have been filming those big bucks is nolonger in the program that makes it open to public access. Tomorrow I am going to try to get over and talk to the farmer to see if my son and I can still bow hunt it. If we can then it may be a really good thing that he took it out of the program. For now we will have to wait and see.
Holy cow drenman! Coming across I-80 east this evening, 20 miles either side of Gothenburg, there were deer everywhere on the south side of the interstate! Nice to see whitetails after a week of mule deer and antelope on our vacation
I am pretty sure that is where I had seen all the whitetails coming home from Colorado. They were everywhere!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Wow! In the daytime even! Good luck getting after them. If that don't get you excited...wowzer Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You can say things are getting pretty serious!!! Season opens Monday!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
They are everywhere along the Platte once you get out west past the Grand Island. East of there EHD hammered the populations. I was talking to a friend of mine that outfits in SE Nebraska and northern Kansas and he said they have a couple of mature bucks on most of their properties for the first time in 3-4 years. So that sounds good for things starting to recover. He said the game wardens estimated we lost 75% of the population overall in eastern Nebraska, and it hit bucks especially hard. I get back to town on Sunday, hope to get out to the woods one night this week after work. Then out of town next weekend again.
Going to shoot the crossbow before the buckets game, haven't shot it at all this year and I always like having a backup bow Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I got a chance at a nice 8 point but I missed. I missed clean. The wind was up and he came trotting through the woods going from left to right on the trail. I had very little time to get my bow off the hanger, get clipped on and drawn. When I stopped him at 25 yards I did it pretty loud - loud enough to make him flinch and stop. I rushed the shot and shot a little right. He was on full alert thanks to my big mouth and wheeled left at the shot and my arrow whizzed right in front of his chest. Oh well. At least it was a clean miss.
Hey at least you got a shot off this early in the season!!! It can only go up from here!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It's hot as fire here, which is really no surprise. It doesn't tend to cool down here in NC until October. Good luck tonight man! I'm just heading home work work. Got one job wrapped up and will start on the second one tomorrow. After that I'll begin studying for my exam on Wednesday. After that is over I should be able to find some time to hunt! We're officially out of deer meat so I'll take the first doe I can. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If it's as hot as it has been in Ohio in two weeks I don't even think I'll bother heading to the stand... I'll have to wear camo shorts and just paint my chest lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
