I think he could go 145+, especially with all his junk around his head. Always been a little tough to guess inches for me while they are still in velvet. We had a deer a few years ago that looked extremely heavy while in velvet but was quite spindly when he went to bones, almost unrecognizable from velvet to bones. On the other had I've seen them lose almost nothing after dropping velvet.

Right now I'd kill to see a buck like that on any of my properties!

    So would I.

I'm so frustrated right now. Bow season opens in Kentucky this Saturday. The temperature is forecast to be below 60 for the first time this year and a front is supposed to be coming in on Monday. I couldn't ask for better conditions, but I'm not allowed to draw my bow until the 9th because of the pacemaker implant on the 12th.

I can go the weekend after the 9th, but the extended forecast is calling for thunderstorms.

    Unbelievable.

I guess I shouldn't whine too much, huh Rodney? I still have less than two weeks even with my op-hold.

On another note, I just went to my place here behind my house and put out four mock scrapes. Never done that before. I'm pulling out all the stops hoping against hope that I can keep a really good buck in my area. We played cat and mouse last season. He always walked right in front of my cameras when I was hunting somewhere else. I know he survived because I saw him after the season ended. He's still here somewhere.

Speaking of that buck, I've got a question. I have never posted a what do you think he'll score thread, but I've been guessing this guy at around 135 because of how tall he is. What do you guys think? Would he have made 135 last year? When this video was taken I was striking out in Missouri and the tree he stops in front of at :16 to look right is my climber tree. :(

I'm guessing that you are pretty close on the art score.

I agree, probably pretty close. Tough to tell in the video how long his brow tines are. When you are holding his rack in your hands then you can tell us what he scores this year! :)

Yeah 135ish seems reasonable for him. Very nice buck I hope you get a crack at him this year and he's even bigger

That is a great buck Chief! Again, I'd be happy as heck to have him walk by my stand! As for your question I would put him around 125-130 last year but what do I know I haven't shot a deer in 2 years.

I've gotta say that if he had walked in front of me I'd have shot without a second thought. Here's hoping he is still in my area this year.

Our season opens the 15th. Have been shooting about every evening trying to get use to my new release. So far, things are going well.
