Aight.. I need some help here... Been a unique season this far and the hits keep coming.. So... a broadhead hit my string tonight and sliced away one full string.. or like 5 or 6 strands... What's the verdict? It will be replaced ASAP.. but that may take a few days once I place the order tomorrow... But... is it okay to shoot.. if I get the chance tomorrow am? Or do I have to sit this one out? Thanks Gents.
I personally wouldn't shoot it until you get the string replaced. No reason to take a chance of getting hurt, and seriously hurt at that. A couple days sucks, especially right now, but you'd kick yourself if you lost an eye right? Sorry for your luck, but you're best to wait until your string is replaced.
I know 5-6 strands isn't much... but dang, I would be scared to even draw the bow back, just my opinion though, I really have no idea whether it would hurt or not, but I sure wouldn't even think about it. Just my .02 Black powder just opened here, dare I say it, if that happened to me, I'd bring out the smoke pole... :D
Bummer Dude, that sucks. I gotta tell ya no don't shoot it, can't have anything happen to ya. Love the Avatar.
No way draw that bow back. While your ordering a string order 2, one for a spare. I always keep my old string as a backup and replace them every 3rd year. Or sooner if a broadhead touches it. Sorry for the inconvenience but better safe than sorry.
Mike I believe you use winner choice on that hoyt and I can find out if hysells up by me has them in stock if you like. I agree dont shoot that bow like that at all. T
2 or 3 strands....I'd hunt for a day or two till the string arrives, but not 5 or 6, that's asking for trouble.
all of the above man, got too nice a family to have something bad happen. spend the time with your daughter, it will go over well i am sure
Well.. I didn't do it. Sat in this am and slept with the wife... bummer. Been a VERY unlucky season so far... and I knew what the consensus would be... I was just hoping to get talked into it actually. But.. thanks gents.. I'll be out of the game once again this season for a few days dammit... but I'll return. I did pass a nice buck yesterday at 2:30 in the afternoon at less than 8 yards just before this whole string debacle occured.. I have pics of him at 2.. and now 3 yrs of age. I'm hoping by age 4 he's still around. Thanks again gents... I give you "Mack the knife"...
He feet looky muddy/wet... are you playing in the swamp again ?? Great buck for a 3.5. Should be a stud at 4.5 !! As for the string... good call on sitting it out. It time you get yourself a back up bow. Oh and here is some advice on marriage. When you make a post and mention your wife and say... " slept with the wife... bummer . " Make sure she never reads it !! We know what you meant but she might take offense and sack punch ya and you will be sleeping with the dog for a while !!! :D Tim
You know I LOVE those nasty.. wet.. swampland whitetails Tim. He is a great 3.5... but I know if he makes it he will be a magnificient 4 fo sho. And don't worry about the wife comment... I keep her away from all you rowdy's... especially you Tim! UPDATE ON THE STRING: I'm officially out for a week... with any luck I'll have the bow back by Wednesday or Thursday... then I'll have to quickly get set up for 20 and 30 yrds with broadhead before the next weekend. Not much else to do but laugh about this one. Cause believe me... I was crying last night. Oh well... I'll just play with the kiddo all week... in November... while the bucks are on the move..... in daylight... (sigh).
That buck is huge imo (at least for SEMO), and is definitely one I couldn't pass up. This year I'm passing up bucks too..... you my friend, have way more will power than I.
