I like slick tricks. I started with them last year, and have no reason to shoot anything else at this point. I love how the OP said "probably a fixed blade", yet 90% of replies are mechanicals. Any broadhead will work. It's less about the equipment, and more about the hunter. The indians used shaped rocks, fyi.

I shoot 3 blade Muzzy's 125. Killed my 8 pointer last night. He ran 25 yrds and bled out. I will forever say they are my broadhead. Not saying they are better than anything else cuz there is a lot of quality broadheads out there. But you can't go wrong with Muzzy's. Every deer I've hit with em hasn't lived.

That's the one problem I have with em. I have put them through the ringer yet they still are in the same shape ( lil bit duller) as when I got them. Shot my deer this morning with one and he made it 60 yards tops before piling up. I will keep these as back ups in my quiver till I have a reason not to. Only reason I am switching is to get a feel for something else.

As long as the shot is spot on and placed in the right spot you can't go wrong with anything mentioned in the thread here. It will ultimately come down to preference. Higher speed bows tend to like the rage, Tekans, and blood runners. I am a big fan of all three as well as Muzzy (gotta love the TROCAR tip). I also like cut on contacts, you know you are getting the cut. There is praise for each of these in my opinion. I've seen deer drop in 20 yds with a rage I've seen them run for miles. Same can be said for each tip mentioned. I am a rage shooter and every deer I have shot with them has went down in sight, granted there were no shoulder hits. All double lung with massive holes which holds true for any broadhead. Good Luck, you will not go wrong with whatever you choose. Happy Hunting, TC & GB!!!

The best will be any fixed, cut on contact head. Two, three, or four blade, really doesn't matter all that much in todays compounds, provided they are sharp. Slick tricks, Magnus, G5, sonics, carbon express, etc. etc.

I have not used montecs in a long time, but they use to be very easy to sharpen. They use to be bevled to where you just had to lay them flat on a stone and rub. Use to be real easy to sharpen the G5s. I have not used them since they first came out, so they might be different now. I tested them for a shop, other than that, I stick with two blades because I am a longbow shooter.

The angle on the shot turned a 1.5 inch bh into a 4 inch blood pumping gash.

Yes, i would have liked to hear about some more fixed blades but the ones i did hear about were great! I ended up buying the bloodrunners, i really like the idea that it cuts a 1 1/8" hole even if it fails to deploy.....
And yes, I also realize its about the hunter but its also never bad to have the advantage... Id prefer use a broadhead that flys quiet than one that is loud or a broadhead easy to sharpen over one that isnt etc...

Thats what ive used in the past.... so far i have only shot one doe and made many mistakes in recovering the deer (learned from them all and it will NEVER be happening again)....... sadly the doe was never found so i cant really vouge for the heads because of my errors but im just looking to expirement around a little bit and try something new.

The ones i used were actually the originals... Im not sure why, but i had the most difficult time sharpening those things!!! Although im sure it was funny to watch
Ive heard from a few people i know the same thing.... Since then i believe they made some out of a different metal or added something to them that made it easier and i have yet to try them out

Other than sharpening, there were great broadheads! If i would have been able to sharpen them, id propably say that they are some of the most durable broadheads they probably have out there. Gonna have to look into the newer ones

Thanks, will be hunting them all next week... Hoping to let one fly!
Going out and using the practice head tomorrow to make sure im still on with them before i go so we will see how that goes!

I really like the whole concept and build of them though!! Definately feel and look like the most durable and well built mechanicals ive ever seen due to there being no removable parts or anything on the outside that can break or fall off like O-rings or springs and all

I like the rage 3 blades. They are mechanical and i have never had any problems. They leave a great hole and i shot a doe last year and it literally poured the blood out and only ran 50 yards.
