Hey guys I'm new to bow hunting and i was wondering Wat broad head was best for Mathews Z7 or Mathews Reezen 6.5 i use muzzy and was wondering out of all the muzzy, shwacker ,rage 2 or 3 blade,Nap blood runner 2 or 3 blade or the rocket mini blasters Wat broad head is better (for penetration, grouping , power, big blood trail that can also go through shoulder) thanks for all your help

it's all pure preference. i've used thunderheads, muzzy, f15 and currently use rage. i like the rage because it makes a bigger hole. the only one i would stay away from is the f15 expandable. i really didn't like the way it functioned

I agree that its all preference but I've used the T3, rage, slick trick and CS G5, they are all good if you have a well tuned bow but the expandable's tend to do better at long range (40-60yrds). I've also heard that the blood runners have left a great hole. These all tend to leave huge holes but you need to consider what ranges you will be shooting at and just make sure you aim small so you miss small and you'll be fine with any broadhead. I hope this helps.

I would definitely recommend a chisel point fixed blade. I use the muzzy 3 blade and love them. I would also recommend not shooting through shoulder blades.

Any broadhead will do the trick if you are shooting it out of a well tuned bow. If the bow is not tuned then you'll have trouble with all broadheads, especially with longer the shots.

This should help you with tuning if you need it. http://www.eastonarchery.com/pdf/tuning_guide.pdf

    Enjoy

Clearly, the only broadhead that's the best is the one I'm using right now. (insert brand)

I shot both of my does at or over 40 yards and the Bloodrunner 2 Blades did great. As for durability, they went into the trash after I used them. The pins that hold the bottom edge together broke on both of them. Probably should have pushed the arrow all the way through. I might have broken it while pulling them out. I had great penetration and wouldn't expect a complete pass through at that distance. I can't wait to get something within 10-20 yards and see what it does.

My first year hunting I used Montec CS's. I was recommended them and just went with them because I didn't know better. This past year I determined that I was going to use whatever I felt was the best. I tested the NAP Spitfires and fell in love. I shot three deer this year and not one made it further than 80 yards. Two of those three shots were marginal and I truly feel that if I was shooting a small diameter broadhead that I would not have recovered my deer. The spitfire maxx's cause so much damage it is almost unbelievable. I got complete pass throughs on all three shots too. On top of this any NAP broadhead is ridicously sharp. There is no comparison to the Montec's. My recommendation to you is to try out a few different brands, and both fixed blade and mechanical broadheads. Use the ones that you personally feel comfortable with. Do not be swayed by other peoples opinions. Find out first hand by yourselft. Good luck and happy hunting!!!

Basically this. Everyone has what they like and what they prefer. Some use only fixed, some live and die by the rage (or mechanical). I even know guys that carry both.
My suggestion is to get on ebay, get a set of practice mechnical and fixed, get your bow tuned with them and see what performs the best for you.

Slick Tricks! I'm a big fan of fixed blade broadheads, simply because if it is mechanical it can fail and I don't like to trust that. With a fixed blade if it hits it cuts no matter what.

Well as for me this year i will be using 3 blade 100 grain muzzys for deer and probably carry 3 2 blade rages and 3 muzzys for bear. So it really is mostly preference on this matter.

It's all personal preference. Just make sure they're sharp and they'll all kill equally well if your bow/arrow combination is in tune and you put them on the mark.

This may sound stupid, but alot of people don't do this. Make sure your field tips and your broadheads are the same grain also, so that your practicing with the same weight you'll be hunting with. Also, make sure you shoot one of your actual hunting broadheads, or as someone said the practice tips that come with some of them. DONT assume they will fly like your field tips, as in my experience, they almost never do.

Here is a very unbiased blog that I wrote about broadheads a couple years ago. Granted not all the heads you asked about are listed, but it will give you some information to make the decision that is best for you.

all I can say is look at my pics. I use rage 2 blade and have tried many others but they have been most consistent for me. Big buck 40 yrds. the pic on the log was the start of it. Then acroos the road 6" patch right to him.
