Hey guys so i changed my set up this year and am shooting a heavier arrow and i know everyone has there favorite broadhead thsts not what i want to find out here i want to know in youropinion what would be the best broadhead to shoot with the fps im shooting and weight for max efficency and penetration because i know some heads tune better per speeds. Bow:Mathews HTX #70 27 inch Draw length 430 grain arrow with 300 spine and 125 grain head. I was shooting montecs 100grains but recently moved up to 125 grain heads. any input is welcome I like fixed blades but open to everything.
At your draw and arrow weight, pretty much any broadhead on the market is available to you, fixed or mechanical. Nothing in your info gives any reason to stay away from anything specific. Unlike some that have low pounds of draw weight and should stay away from mechanicals, for example. As for your specific question, there really is now way to answer it definitively on a forum. It's simply a trial and error situation. Find a head you like and give it a go. Sometimes a head just refuses to tune for a given setup. I will share from my personal experience that I used Montecs with my old bow with good results but when I upgraded last year, I couldn't get them to tune to the new bow. I switched to Slick Tricks and all is good. I'm not saying that one is better than the other overall, just that one is better for me and my setup. You just have to try something and see what happens. On my light arrows I run the 125gr Solids. My light arrows run 435grs. My heavier arrows I shoot just about anything. Right now my heavy arrows are tuned to shoot German Kentics. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I would check out either the Rage +P or if you want a good fixed head I would check out Slick Trick Magnums or Vipertricks.
Try the Trocar HB, it's a hybrid head so you get the benefits of both mechanicals and fixed blades Mathews HTX 28.5" 70# QAD HDX Axion Cloud 7 inch stabilizer HHA Kingpin Easton 6mm FMJ Muzzy Trocar
At 125 grains its hard to beat the Slick Trick standard or magnums. They both will fly like darts and the blades are of good quality. Expandables are great but if you have confidence in a fixed head I'd stick with that. Our setups are similar but I think I'm gonna go with the NAP Thunderhead Nitro this year. Its only 100 grains I think.
My 2 favorite BH are............Sharp - Durable - Fly great - Made in the USA......................QAD Exodus & NAP Hellrazor. No expandables for this guy.
