So in my previous post I talked about my mission into looking for a new bow for next season, I have made my choice in the Elite Energy 32. now it is time for a little insight as to what everyones opinion is on Drop away arrow rests. Personally I have always shot out of a Whisker Biscuit. Why? because my father always shot a whisker biscuit, and that is what he outfitted my bow with. I have recently seen alot of hunters switching to drop away arrow rests and have wondered what all the commotion is about so if you guys could enlighten me on the subject that would be awesome i have refrained from them for a while now because I dont know how well they work or how reliable they are. I am a very traditional hunter and like all my equipment to work soundly and consistent every time I shoot. I have also always shot fixed blade broadheads for the same reason. I am afraid of shooting a fixed blade for one reason what if the blade doesn't open? I shoot at around 60-65lbs, I currently shoot the Slick Trick, but am thinking of switching to the G5 Havoc any input is much appreciated in my journey to create my dream bow that I can use for a long time (5-8 years).

I use either Trophy Taker Smackdown or QAD drop away rests and have never had any issues with them. I also am a fan of fixed blade heads but my son won't use anything but mechanicals.

I was in the same boat as you about a year and a half ago. I shot several rests at a shop near me and gained some valuable insight. Wisker Biscuits are actually not a very forgiving rest as I thought of them. The longer the arrow makes contact with the rest, the more your form and follow through will effect the arrows path. Todays drop aways are also full containment for the most part as well, another reason I loved my WB. I went with the Trophy Taker Smackdown Pro and do like it a lot. With that being said, I cannot say it has improved my shooting dramatically. The Smackdown Pro is limb driven which is also a plus in my book as you do not have to worry about the paddle bouncing back up into fletchings.

I also switched to mechanical (Killzone) at the same time from Thunderheads. I am 4 for 4 with Killzone and the entry and exit holes are unbelievable to me after using fixed blade on my first 9 bow kills.
