I'm getting around 48lbs of Ke is that enough to safely use swhackers on deer?

They recommend a minimum of 60 KE. That's what I've read.

My personal opinion is less than 60lbs just shoot a fixed...just as deadly.

Echoing what these gentleman said. I'd recommend a good cut-on-contact head such as Magnus Stinger, Magnus Buzzcut, G5 Striker, G5 Monatech, Muzzy Phantom, etc. Good Luck.

Look at Slick Tricks, too. I have killed a decent amount of deer with them, and I have more than enough KE to shoot mechanicals.

Alright guys heres my ? I got that number using an archery calc. in which I had to use my arrow speed I had to type in my bows ibo, draw wt, dl, and arrow wt. and I got around 246fps... my ? is my bow cant be measured like most bows at 29 inches 70# because the bow I shoot achieves ibo at 28 inches and 60#, so when I calculated my arrow speed shooting a 400 grain arrow shooting 27 inch dl at 55lbs be near ibo? the reason I ask this is because I have to enter my arrow speed and arrow wt to find my ke.

I think your confused on how IBO is measured. An IBO speed can be achieved at any draw length.

IBO is defined at 30"@70# and a 350grn arrow or 30"@60# with a 300grn arrow.

You bow absolutely can be measured the same. Honestly, I'm totally lost as to what you are asking.;)

It's almost sounds like your fishing for a reason to shoot a mechanical? If you want to, do it. Don't let a bunch of guys online stop you. But, why do you want to shoot one? What advantage do you have?

I believe his bow is a short draw bow that isn't available in 30" and 70# .Probably stops at 28"and 60#
So the manufacturer rates it at the top end for that model.

    Regardless, 27" and 55# isn't enough for a swhacker.

Imo, 30"and 70# isn't enough for those heads.

Just wondering why you think that. What about them makes them so hard to open. Not trying to challenge you because I respect your knowledge I'm just curious

    I don't like the design.

They are designed to open inside the animal. If you don't have an exit wound, you don't have a blood trail.

With that head, you need an exit wound, meaning you need a lot of energy to ensure a passthrough on a bone hit.

Tanks for clarifying. It does make sense now. What heads do you shoot?
