I finally put together the footage from my second test with some new broadheads vs. a stab vest from work. Got some GREAT and unexpected results. I sent over a dozen emails to broadhead companies but only had a few takers. Big thanks to Copperhead here on our forum for sending me a couple to play with! Take a look and let me know what you think! Thanks!

If you shoot a bow that is has a longer draw length that 26" and use arrows that are not little pencils you will blow right through that vest.
The more weight in your arrows will give you more momentum which is more important than KE to an extent. (My opinion) but I bet if you used a 450+ grain arrow with those same heads it drive right through easier.

I think the setup of bow DW, DL and arrow weight etc. have more impact on your results than the actual broadhead itself.

Just a note. The executioner will stop dead in a shoulder as well. Its a good broadhead just hard to get the energy to get a blade that big through bone. The carbon express XT will blow through in most cases on deer sized animals.

Thanks for the test and follow up Hillbilly. I hope to find out how the DRT single bevel head does on a black bear next week.

Great video. I agree with the heavier arrow. Also the DRT's you had the 25gr modular weight installed. DRT's are some great heads. I got a couple of packs but had to send 4 of the 6 back because they wobbled real bad & wouldn't fly right.

I heard from my Houston bow shop, that those colored blades whistle when shot but I never tried them myself.

You would be correct. The ones I had whistled real bad. Extremely noticeable past 20yrds.

I never had any trouble, or noticed any whistle, with the DRTs I've used. I've went thru a cpl packs on my bow, and same with my crossbow. Maybe I got lucky?

So you think if I used a 450+ grain arrow and 31 inch draw at 70lbs, more arrows would have penetrated further through the vest? Fair enough and you may very well be correct. Unfortunately I'm stuck with a 26.5 DL. Nothing I can do about that. The basis behind the test was to keep as many variables the same from my first one. I couldn't use the same bow as before because I sold it. The idea behind the test was to highlight the performance differences in the broad heads. As we saw regardless of my setup, some broad heads performed much better than others. That was all I was looking for. Increase all the variables such as DL, DW, arrow weight and such then yes, I would expect an increased performance across the board in all of the broad heads.

I personally think the sharpness and the broad head did the work in this test. I wasn't trying to get everything to blow through both sides because then everything would have the same result. If everything blew through both sides, how do you judge the broad head?
