One thing I find important to a broadheads is after a hard shot. Is the ability to repair or sharpen the blades, also if the ferrule is still straight after bone contact. Of course cheap broadheads I most times just throw away. But a higher end broadhead I like the ability to rebuild or reshaping the blades. This is a huge factor when I try new heads.

Chrono all the shots at both ends so we can see the arrow speed out of the bow, and also the speed just before hitting the target, especially on the penetration testing.

If you can pull the broad heads off the shelf can also weight test them to show production consistency.

Since a lot of failures seem to be from guys using bows that are a bit out of spec.,...what about some comparison of which heads do best from a bow that is less than optimal on tune. ?? For both flight and performance.

60# draw weight, Light arrow with fixed 2 blade penetration vs normal weight hunting arrow with mechanical or fixed 3 blade. (I guess normal is a broad spectrum, my normal would be minimum 475gr.)

Since so many unpatriotic and um-American folks purposefully set out to send money to China instead of supporting American jobs, you may want to "test" the China knock off heads. Perhaps it will reveal the quality these folks are settling for as they play cheap-skate/anti-American.

I'm pretty skeptical of any such tests because the head that may perform worst in your untuned setup may do a consistent and fantastic job in a bow setup to use those heads.

Also, looking at your partners/sponsors, I'm guessing NAP may do very well..

I'm interested in your findings. I too would like to see an actual bone/meat test. In my very rudimentary test with my setup, I've found that plywood gives much more resistance (maybe simulate dense bone better?). I'm most interested in blade retention and how heads hold up to solid materials such as bone.

I really hope this is an honest test and not one skewed in any way towards your sponsors (NAP).

The broadhead test hasn't even happened yet and already its being accused of being rigged. Gotta love the internet

I like this idea. Although I hate the thought of giving even a few dollars to these ripoff artists, it may be worth it for the sake of the test.

If a broadhead that's shot from a properly tuned bow needs any sort of major adjustments to fly properly on a consistent basis, IMO there's something wrong with the head. While I understand that some basic broadhead tuning is usually required to optimize flight, it shouldn't be enough to drastically alter the test results.

 Yeah, we'll be pushing those ones into the ballistics gel a few extra inches for good measure.

How about testing those plastic cheap shot broadheads. I can't see myself ever using them but would be fun to see the test results.

A broadhead "test" conducted by a entity sponsored/partnered by a broadhead maker should automatically be though suspicious. I don't know what the internet has to do with it? Likewise with the timing of the comment. Regardless if the comment was made prior to, during or after the "test" , The concern is a valid one.

Any possibility of penetration testing through bone? Say like a cow shoulder? The bone can't be all dried out else the test is skewed though. I know its asking a lot but that means more to me than a steel drum test.

I'm just saying let's see how the test shakes out before tearing it down. Justin is looking for input on what we would like to see which I find encouraging.

What will be the weight of the arrows? Everyone knows mechanicals work best on the front of a heavier arrow would like to see the test to include an arrow around 450 grains finished weight.

It will be right around there. 425-450 most likely.

Agreed. A total projectile weight that is 8 grains per Lb. of draw weigh would be a hunting setup vs the super light 3D setups.

It should also probably be a different shoulder for each shot so there is no weakness from the previous shot. I think this has some good potential.

Price of the heads, number per pack and then cost per head. Might also be interesting to see what companies do/say when contacted for a warranty replacement after the formal tests are done... a follow up test

Let's just call the ILDNR, I'm sure they'll have plenty deer shot by sharp shooters we can use.
