I'm relatively new to bowhunting. I've been shooting for about a year and a half, but will be stepping in the wood with a bow for the first time this season.

    I'm shooting a Mission Venture at 63# and 28"

In my quest for broadheads I've narrowed it down to a couple of choices, the SlickTrick Vipertick, the Carbon Express F-15, and the Magnus Buzzcuts

I know I want a fixed blade head, and am open to any suggestions.

Anyone with any personal expreiences with these broadheads would be great

    Thanks in advance!

I'm going to be trying the G5 Montec this year. My second choice was the Muzzy MX-4.

Heard great things about the Magnus buzzcuts. Good, durable, and penetrate well. Hopefully tfox joins in in this thread. I believe he has a lot of good experience with these jeads

Why have you decided to only consider fixed blade? If your going to stick with that I would look at the NAP Hellrazor. A lot of people on the forums have shot them in the past and they are pretty awesome.

If your considering the Hellraiser then take a look at the VPA 's they are of similar design however they fully machined. A big step up in quality. They come in 1 1/8 and 1/14 both vented and unvented.

I agree to not rule out mechanicals, I heard the NAP killzones are pretty devistating. I try not to be a rage fanboy like a lot of the other rage shooters out there but they work well for me, and I got some gnarly results on my first deer. I also shot a deer with the NAP hellrazor but for some reason they didn't work for me and I ended up finding the buck about 2 days later (without a head), which really surpised me because of all the amazing things I heard about them; I must have done something wrong or just my shot placement was bad because I had very minimal blood. That being said, everybody else I heard from that shot a deer with them had great results so I would give those a whirl if I were you. I also hear great things about the montecs as well. Good luck!

Don't waste your money on the CE F-15's. As far as fixed blade goes....I prefer Muzzy Mx3's or Hellrazors.

I use machanicals and fixed blades. Different types for different game. My personal 2 favs for fixed type is G5 Montecs and Slick tricks. Why? Because they kill stuff.

Agree, I shot the hellrazor this season, but seeing the VAP heads I'll be switching. I shot one deer with my hellrazor and it was one and done for the head, one blade is destroyed from hitting bone.

They along with the monotecs are injection molded ect...not even close to being a strong as a machined VPA... Also the VPA's retake an edge super easy.....

The 2 heads I used this past fall where the slick trick vipers and the exodus from qad. The Exodus is probably one of the best fixed heads on the market. As for fixed vs mechanical I'm torn. I've used rage and t3 with great success. The problem with mechanical is some designs can get bumped and can open up. others have addressed this issue but my concern is will it open on contact is always on my mind. I use mechanical on turkey for the large cut and I don't want as much penetration. On deer I want to all the penetration I can so determining if you have enough Ke for your setup is important to consider when choosing fixed or mechanical. Broadheads discussion is broad topic and will have ton of input with a lot of different opinions. If I were you I would buy a pack of each and try them and see what you shoot best and that's what I would go with.

The Magnus Buzzcuts are great as are their Stingers. Don't over look the G5 Montecs, they are very hard to beat!!

I might also consider NAP hellraiser as well as the NAP thunderheads.. Amazing broadhead IMO.

Dont get the F-15 they don't fly well at all. I try the crimson talon broad heads... not many people use them but I have and they work awesome and fly amazing. With great blood trails. Also I am not trying to jump on the rage band wagon but I have used them them this last deer season and I was impressed. But try the crimson talon broad head.

I'd go with either the hellrazors or G5 montecs they are basically the same broadhead

I was in the same situation as you. I asked on this forum what people recommended, and got great feedback. I tried out some fixed blade heads and ended up buying some muzzy mx-3, slick trick magnums and g5 montecs. Made sure my bow was all tuned and they all flew like field tips. Think my go to bh will be the muzzy though. Also not gunna totally get away from the mechanicals. Love the grim reapers, they are deadly! Good luck with your choice.

I think I'm going with the VPA 100 grain unvented heads. Thanks to everyone!

Since almost all the broadheads come in 3 packs you should see if you can find 2 other people to go in on a test buy with you. Each of you purchase one pack and ship the other 2 broadheads to the others. That way you will end up with 3 different heads to test out and see which one you like the best. Sure you can find 2 others to do this with!
