My daughter is finally to the point where she can pull back 35lbs (legal draw weight in ND) & she is a proficient shooter so I am setting up her arrows for hunting whitetails this season. Any shots she takes will be inside 20 yards but I'm curious if I can use 100 grain broadheads or do I need something lighter since she only pulls 35lbs? TIA.

I'd stick with the 100's and not use mechanical. I think anything less than 100 you'd loose too much KE. I'd look at Dirt Nap unless you've already decided on something and just weren't sure about the weight. The DRT's are some of the sharpest I've ever used.

When my son started out I set him up with 100 grn. Magnus Stinger's. Any of the two blade cut on contact heads will do the job.

Thanks guys. I have a bunch of 100 grain heads & was hoping to not have to buy something different. I have a few packs of NAP thunderheads I will probably set up for her.

I'm sure those will work just fine. Best of luck to you and her!

I'd really consider the CoC suggestion...those Thunderheads will not get near the penetration compared to any good CoC 2 blade. Plus some of the CoCs have the backside of the blades sharpened which in the event of a non-pass through (likely) will slice away inside the animal.

Congrats on raising a new hunter!

+1 on the magnus stinger. That's what I use for my trad archery hunts.

Any fixed heads and heavy arrow will work. Thunderheads will be fine.
