Ok, I'm new to this forum and I have a quick question. The expandable blade technoloty has sort of passed me by. I am shooting 52 pounds, 100 grain fieldpoints and fixed blade Thunderheads and have killed numerous elk in the past. I am curious about the expandables since theoretically they are easier to tune. Does anyone have an informed opinion of what the best expandable (for elk) would be with my set up ? I prefer a cut on contact to a chisel point and I am nervous about failure of an expandable but maybe that's not an issue anymore? Would love to hear opinions before I start hunting in a couple of weeks.
    Thanks!

This would be better in the Bowhunting Forum, not the introduction forum.

Do NOT shoot an expandable at an elk with 52#'s. With a good, solid, fixed blade head you will not have a problem. With a properly spined arrow, matched to a properly tuned bow will shoot accurately at any given ethical distance.

I would suggest something in the cut on contact realm for your set up. A few on my list would be the G5 Montec, NAP Hellrazor, Magnus Snuffer, or Magnus Stinger.

What are your specs arrow wise? Brand, size, weight

I agree, at 52# the cut on contact style broadhead is way better suited, especially for elk.

Unless you have an extremely long draw length. Then you might be able to get by but even then, my recommendation is to stay with cut on contact heads.
