When selecting a broad head what is the recommended grain weight that should be used?
Itll be used with a compound bow.

No I practice with a field point of the same grain and then when season gets close I shoot my broadheads to be sure they shoot true to my field points.

Ya all I've used is the 100 grains also. The big thing about what broad head is your draw weight. If you pull under 50 lbs I would say use fixed blades. 50+ draw then you could use mechanical. Not to say you can't use them if you pull under 50 lbs it's just you won't get much penetration with the kinetic for loss to the opening of the blades.

Get a pack of 100gr Muzzy MX-3' s and you'll be fine. That is a good starting point for anyone in my opinion. No need to think about fixed/mechanical or any others until you have had plenty of time to read and research yourself. And as always, no broad head can make up for not practicing.
