What do you guys think about this idea?
I want to set up a shoot thru target (paper) with no target to dull my blades but instead a pool of water to stop the arrow.
I was watching a show and they were test firing a gun in to a drum of water to retreive the rounds intact. So i was wondering if we could do the same with our broad heads.
I know that the paper would dull them a little bit but I figured I could resharpen them from that but not from a taget block or bag.
I switched to a fixed blade the other day and they fly great but I still like to practice with them if I can keep the cost down

Why not just have practice broadheads?

Just get some practice blades or a good file and stone. With a pool of water, you sometimes have the same ricochet problems you have with bullets, unless you shoot straighht down.

All you need is practice heads or just practice blades. Much easier. Most heads have practice blades available or just buy replacement blades to use for hunting.

Not sure what kind of fixed heads you are using but I know my g5 Montecs can be (and continually are) sharpened back to better than new with very little effort even after flinging them at my Block target a few times. Although I have only been using them for a while now, I am finding it hard to beat these fixed/ cut on contact heads

Michael, keep in mind, the water will not stop the arrow like it stops a bullet... (an arrow will out penetrate the bullet)
