Broad head for turkey?

I'm in south Florida and am going to start turkey hunting this fall and am wondering what type of broadhead do I want to use. I spend a lot of time out in the Everglades and see a fair amount of turkeys.

I have killed quite a few with the same heads I hunt deer with. Muzzy 3 blade. But, turkey's are the only game I think a large expandable would work well on.

 

I use my deer broadheads. Spitfires and killzones.

 

I am 3 for 3 on turks with Killzones!

 

I like a big cut so anything around 1.75" or bigger. Killzones are nasty!

 

I used a Muzzy MX-4 this past season, worked great. Im going back to the MX-3's or try out the Trocars this upcoming deer season. I'm a fan of Muzzy products.

This past seasons turkey shot with a MX-4.

 

Shoot them in the head/neck with a Magnus Bullhead. Dead on contact, no meat loss, no wounded bird to run off and be lost, a larger kill zone than a body shot, and a clear and easy target. Simply the EASIEST shot in all of bow hunting to make.

 

Thanks for all your help and advice. I really appreciate getting it from people that actually use the products, not from some guy behind the counter that has never been hunting.

I'm 2 for 2 with the Montec G5's. Had one go clean through from neck to ***. He had a seizure for about 20 seconds and was done. The other logged in him and we had to do a little chasing but not much. Check out Flying Arrow Archery's Tom Bomb. Its a pretty devastating BH. I'm going to give them a try in the fall. Shot placement as with anything else is the most critical of all. "Hit me high, watch em die, hit em low, watch em go"! Vitals are a little higher in the body cavity than some people realize.

 

I plan on trying these out either this fall/spring season. I have heard nothing but great things about them.

 

I have had the best luck with the Grim Reaper Whitetail Special 2"

 

Either the killzones or the rocket hammerheads.

 

Grim Reaper, Spitfires, and Rocket Hammerheads have all killed turkeys for me. I've used the Hammerheads more, but dead is dead ! It's more about shot placement IMO. As the saying goes, " hit 'em high, watch 'em die, hit 'em low, watch 'em go ". Good luck !
