I have always liked the way my white/ hi-viz yellow or lime green blazers and also my bright orange/yellow or hi-viz yellow/green feathers look and seem to be easier to find than some of the other combos I've seen. The other day I was reading an article by Chuck Adams and he noted why he always uses all red flecthing..."Red is the only color that is brilliant to the human eye but appears medium gray to color-blind game"...."Orange,yellow, blue and white fletching all look more or less white to an animal". Oh well I guess I am not feeling so good about my choices in fletching color anymore. Maybe it's time to break down and buy a Blitz. or Jo Jan, 50 Gateway all reds, some fletching glue and learn the art of arrow flecthing. As my white flags become damaged or destroyed over time I can just replace them with something less obvious to deer eyes. For now I will just be sure that while my quiver is dangling from the back side of my tree, my flecthings will be covered...probably by just draping my camo bow sling over them.

I am sure this will not make or break your success in a hunt but it probably is one more item that can be added to a very long list of steps you can take in getting your deer. You think? I doubt I will go out and strip off all my fletchings and start from scratch but it is stuck in the back of my mind now if/when my fletchings get damaged to the point I will not shoot/hunt with them anymore....besides, I guess those reds look pretty cool too. Any thoughts whether Pro or Con on this issue???

I would never switch to red for that reason. There are other things you can do to hide bright fletch & I like the contrast when checking my arrow after a shot to determine the quality of hit.

Yeah, I use orange and yellow and white but not red. I only want my fletches to be red after they pass through the target critter. :)

I think fletch color only really matters if you're trying to hide from birds or people.

Red, yellow and orange are the hardest to find come fall when the leaves are dropping, every leaf in the forest is this color! I'll be switching colors when my supply of feathers runs out in 6 more arrows! I'll be going to a blue white combo!

I read that when he originally wrote about that theory a few years ago... actually came to mind before I even opened the thread and saw you reference him.

Think about this: The next time you're in the woods, look around and see how many light-colored, pale yellow leaves are around you -- no matter the time of year. I'd be willing to bet that you can easily find a good amount around. The deer don't jump and get skittish at all those pale-colored leaves, do they?

If it's wintery conditions with no leaves, all the better.... grayish-white skies are the predominate background anyway.

To honest, I have used white wraps and all white fletchings before and cant really say that it has got me busted. Im using white wraps now with two white blazers and one black. I have killed turkeys with these colors in natural ground blinds and slid them past a turkeys eyes at ground level. So with that said, I dont worry much about my colors and getting busted. If your goping to get a fletcher, I highly recomend the bitz ;)
