What a run by the Redbirds! 10.5 back in late August, their #1 starter done for the year in spring training, their closer being released early in the year, and many other things were stacked against them. I was a nervous wreck all day yesterday waiting for this game to be over with. If it would have went to Game 7, I think the Brewers would of took it. Milwaukee fans, you guys had a great season, and as long as Ryan Braun is playing LF for you, then you'll always have a chance to be back in this same position. Now focus shifts to Texas, and a muderer row of hitters and unhittable relivers.
The Cards had a great series. You can't win against a good team when you commit that many errors. Congrats cards.
One question for you guys.... Is Fielder always that care free? It seemed every time they showed him on camera he was always smiling, or joking around in the dugout. Even his postgame comments made it sound like he wasn't to concerned with what just happened.
I found that weird too. Also towards the end of the season when he said something about how he may not be a Brewer next year.. Definitely not things you want out of a "superstar".
Yeah the few fans from Milwaukee that I talked to Friday night at the game, were less than thrilled by some of things Fielder had said towards the end of the year.
He had that one scuffel in the dugout with a starting pitcher that he didn't think was giving enough effort on the field. And the time he tried to get in the other teams locker room after the game to go after sombody. So he does blow up from time to time. But other than that he's always real calm. He hasn't seemed pissed in a few years. He didn't say anything about the contract until about a month ago. Even then he didn't say much.
He seems pretty jovial most of the time. I doubt he will be a Brewer next year. I think we are better served investing that money in our starting pitching.
You guys will still have a heck of a staff with Gallardo, Grienke, and Marcum, and Braun and Weeks are no pushovers for the middle of a lineup. First Base is probably the easiest position to fill too.
