Hello I am new to archery; always wanted to get into it but never took the time until recently. I found a nice recurve on Cl for a good price and have been really enjoying it so far. I plan to deer hunt this October so lots of practice is needed. So far I have only shot with some wood arrows and field points that came with the bow. They are not straight. My groups are acceptable at 10 yards (pie plate). I believe my shots will be limited to 15 yards or less this year. Bow is a Bear Super Kodiak, 45# and my draw according to the charts is about 29". I am right at 6' tall. The draw seems very easy for me, I can pull and hold no problem with it. Advice I need is what arrow and tip should I be using for my setup? I have done some searches and it looks like a two blade broadhead is the standard. 125 or 140 grain? I dont want to spend a fortune trying different combos, so looking for a good starting point for hunting accuracy with good penetration.
Out of my 45# kodiak I get great flight with 30.5" 2016's and a 150 grain head. Your draw is a tad longer than mine, so I would guess you would need to run a 125 tip or shave a little length from what my setup is.
A 2016 w/125gr point would tune well for you. Leave it full length and tweak as needed. If you wanted to go with a heavier shaft, a 2018 w/140gr tip
