I like Diamonds, because, thats what I bought. I own a Bear Recurve from the 70's, 2 Jeffrey Compounds from the 80's, and when I got back into Bowhunting 2 years ago after a long absence, I ordered a Diamond Rock package, sight unseen from hunters choice... I was going to get a PSE stinger package but went with the Rock because they were running a special.... I got the Diamond and loved it... I shoot with guys who have about everything made...I like the fit and finish of diamonds and the way they look, and the fact they are looked down on by some, but when we shoot, the Diamond does as well as any. But if I had to make a suggestion on what bow is best, I'd have to say what most here say..whatever the best bow for you is the best...all of them are cool. SB
It's hard not to be brand loyal. I try to keep my mind open. As far as bows go i've owned 1 Hoyt 2 PSE's 1 Bear 1 Ross Right now im in a BowMadness MC. I just go with what feels/shoots best for me.
My guns, yes...I will probably always buy Browning. As for bows, I am still shooting my first and only bow purchased in '98. It is a Browning, but when I do break down and buy another bow it will not be a Browning (or PSE). Nothing wrong with Browning/PSE bows, mine is still killing 'em and ,knock on wood, I have never had a problem of any kind with it but I do think there are better bows on the market. My first choice would be Hoyt and next BT but would make final decision after shooting certain models side by side. Just depends on which felt better to me at that time. They all kill deer.
First bow was a American Archery something (I think my Grandma could throw arrows faster and the 15% letoff was unreal) then a Bear Whitetail Hunter and a Whitetail Hunter II. PSE FireFlite Express. An Alpine. Then the stretch of four Mathews, a Q2, Outback, Drenalin and now the Monster. I plan on sticking with Mathews.
I'm loyal to what works for me. I drive a Chevy, I've had two of them. I won't say that I don't look at other trucks when I am ready to buy, but I KNOW what's worked and that's worth more than what I THINK will work. Same with my hunting equiptment.
I currently shoot a Quest bow and love it. My next bow purchase will probably be another Quest. I have also had a Bear, Golden Eagle, and a PSE. I have always been a wearer of Mossy Oak camo..
Not much brand loyalty here when it comes to bows. 5 compounds-2 PSE, 1 Martin, 2 Bowtechs. Although I dabbled a little bit away from Thunderheads this year, I don't see me ever completely switching away from them. And likely learned my lesson not to even dabble anymore.
I've only had two bows, one being a PSE beast that I got as my first bow and had for probably 5 or 6 years. Now I've got a Bowtech, which I like a lot. I probably won't be overly loyal though. I usually just go to the shop and shoot several bows and decide which on performs the best. I'm thinking about trying out Elite for the next bow I get. I really like their lifetime warranty that they offer now.
Currently shooting a Parker because the stars aligned one day and Ben called me that day. My next bow I'm hoping will be a Bowtech. If it shoots as good as I'm told I will be sold. I'm crazy about brand loyalty. I still pay more and travel further for my groceries because the supermarket has a foundation to donate money to my undergraduate university.
I'm loyal to a feel, not necessarily a brand... with that said, I've grown accustomed to how 2 particular brands feel to me. So... that's what I shoot.
This is how I seem to feel too now for bows. When it comes to vehicles though, I have only owned Chevy/GMC, and I usually wear all Realtree for camo. Don't really have any reason backing any of it, just what has always worked for me.
I've owned bows from 8 different manufacturers. I've owned dozens of different types of broadheads from over a dozen manufacturers. I've driven Fords, Chevys, Dodges, Plymouths, and now a Nissan. As long as I PAY for a product, I'm not loyal to anyone but my own interests.
I tend not to jump around much. In 40 plus years I have owned several brands. Most memorable were the High Country bows I shot. There was a time when Spencer was on top with the company and made some awesome bows for that day & time. I have shot BowTech since 03 and have been more than pleased with their bows. I've never had one let me down yet. Just a few of the brands I have personally owned are. 1. BowTech 2. Diamond 3. Ross 4. High Country 5. Hoyt 6. Mathews 7. PSE 8. Martin 9. Oregon 10. Bear 11. Pearson 12. Parker 13. Jennings 14. XI I am sure I am forgetting a couple. I owned several models of most of those brands. Dan
I said it before and it's worth repeating. I found Shop loyalty is more rewarding to the seller and the buyer than brand loyalty. The flavor of the month (or year) will come and go, but a well positioned dealer with repeat clientel will be in a position to help you with all your needs. The internet makes it easy to want to keep up with the hottest buzz-bow of today but next year them staffers who get them free will be signing the praises of the 2011 bows...your hot bow will be old news.
What's REALLY cool about the traditional circles is.......You have one guy over here who shoots a $1K(+?) bow.....and he thinks he has the greatest bow in the world. Then, you have a guy over there that shoots a $100(-?) bow.....and he feels the exact same way. The beauty of that is.....they're BOTH right. And, you'll never hear one question the other, otherwise. Not putting down compound shooters in the LEAST bit. Just noting a differnece in outlooks I see exhibited in multiple forums. The only "best" is the one that's best for YOU.
